“Definitely would stay here again”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2011 via mobile

Best value for money,stayed 9 days here @ £30 a night

Reception staff very helpful especially jan who starts work after 6pm

Breakfast was nice and room service too

Very close to many attractions

City centre mall 12 riyals on taxi bit make sure you ask driver to turn the meter on

Souq waqif only 7-8 minutes walk

Ramada junction for fast food restaurants only 10 riyals ( less than 2 quid) on taxi or 45 minutes walk if some one fancy

Try to get some taxi driver phone number as I found it very convenient to ring up half an hour before.

Got a number if some wants it for 40 riyals per hour for a private car with driver , good idea to hire for 3 hours for sight seeing. But please be aware that they are not registered taxi for insurance purpose but I took the risk, minimum booking is for an hour.

Hotel itself was good value for money, I stayed in room 206 and Internet connection (wireless) was reasonable but I used Ethernet also.

Domestic staff comes around 11am to clean the rooms and breakfast is between 6.30 - 10.30

Cam have fried egg or omelette on request.I also saw some one asking and getting hot milk. The guy in breakfast room was also very friendly.

Also want to mention michael on day time reception very helpful and friendly

Guys at this price the hotel is great but if you want 5 star then expect to pay the premium price at some hotels near west bay

Hope this review will help other travellers , this review is for la villa hotel not for palace or apartments

Takes 10 minutes and 28 riyals from airport (Karwa taxi)

Many thanks for reading.

This is Gagandeep Garg, from LeadingEdge Information Services WLL, Bahrain. Checked in the hotel on 21st Feb and today is 23rd Feb. Just after check-in, I had given my two suits for just IRON and NOT FOR WASH/DRY CLEAN. I don't get them back on 22nd Feb. So, I was forced to go for meetings with Jeans & Shirt. In evening, I followed up, they informed me that I'll get in early morning. In morning at sharp 6:35 AM, I called reception. Their receptionist ISKAM, she even don't know how to talk to the customers, without listening to me, she told me that it will come only today evening means 23rd Evening, she was literally shouting on me like I am her bounded labor and had made request for unwanted thing. And, hang up the phone. I get shocked. I called again. She told me that she had informed me about it and again hang up the phone. Next time, she even don't pick the phone. Then after keep on trying, another person a male, pick the phone and told me that he will check with Laundry guys. Just sitting in the hotel room no. 506 for the cloths to come so that I can go for some urgent business meetings.
This is the worst ever service, I have seen in my last 9 year career and travel across the world. Worst service, you can manage some times, but not the bad behaviour.
I don't know how to report to hotel's authorities, but I'll try to reach the hotel management about such a bad behaviour from Ms. ISKAM.

If you stay here then don't expect a 5 star place it isn't that but it is one of the cheaper places to stay in Doha and, from that angle, offers value for money.
You can get a bus virtually to the door as the main bus station in only a 3 minute walk away (ignore the current listing on Google Maps and search for the bus station, next to
the bus station is the Gold market (souk) and one more block on is this hotel).
You can get a local Karwa bus to and from the airport.

The room was large enough to hold a king-size bed, the bathroom was fine although the shower leaked, there was no cable tv but excellent internet in the room but take your ethernet cable or the reception will provide one.

Souq Waqif with places to eat is only a 5 minute walk away but the real bonus is having the bus station right there.

If you aren't looking for luxury, don't want to pay much and don't want modern furnishings this should do you just fine.

The hotel was just a base for a two night visit and met my needs. The room was adequate and breakfast was pretty good. The location is in the old town near the souqs, Islamic Social Centre andvarious malls. It was also close to the local bus station so getting around Doha was straightforward. Reasonable to good value for money.

I had to stop overnight in Doha. This hotel is exactly what I was looking for: close to the airport, walking distance to a few attractions (corniche, islamic museum, souk) and very reasonable price (170 Riyals) double bed and clean)

People are friendly, even if the service is poor.

The bathroom is clean but a lit old (rusty bond). No big issue.

TV with few choices in English (Al Jazheera, MTV and a few others)

AirCon in the room, working well, too noisy (main issue)

No wireless in the room but in the lobby.

I stayed there for 2 weeks and I regret very much being there. The service is poor, the receptionists are ill-trained and often rude with you. Forget about trying to wash and iron a piece of clothing of yours... Breakfast is very scarce too. The hotel is situated in a very poor area. Think twice if you want to go there.

This hotel may be cheap but it is better to pay more and get better. Its location leaves a lot to be desired , the entrance up a dark and unmade road surrounded by what can only be desribed as run down premises. The hotel entrance was clean as was the bedroom but it was sparsely furnished. the only good amenity was the large T.V. No tea or coffee making facilities and no cafes or restaurants nearby. Checking in was slow although we had pre-booked ahead and the door key programming machine was broken so we had to be let into our room by a member of staff using the hotel master key. The washhand basin leaked and flooded the floor as did the shower door which had no seals. The bed was clean but my wife was bitten by what was described by a pharmacist at our destination as 'bed insects' and could only have come from the hotel. Outside our bedroom (somewhere - we were on the 9th. floor) a piece of machinery started up every two or three minutes and ran for five seconds all through the night. Left too early for breakfast so can't comment on the food or service. A request for a taxi to the airport in the morning resulted in a private car, obviously driven by a member of staff or friend or relative turning up. He was only paid what the taxi cost for the journey from the airport. Altogether not a pleasant experience and not to be repeated. Stayed only one night enroute to Bangkok and hotel booked and recommended by travel agent.
