“Morning coffee in Retaj-perfect way to start the day!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

Retaj Al Rayyan breakfast is a delightful experience. Good food, friendly personnel always trying to fulfill client’s requests. Besides the good food they include in the breakfast the choice of different coffee from the bar. I am a coffee person and believe me the espresso made by Faisol is excellent. The velvety thick foam and the flavor are great. Espresso lovers know how important “la crema” in a perfect cup of coffee is. And all this are accompanied by an agreeable smile and a friendly conversation of Faisol. This attitude is the usual one for all Rataj Al Rayyan employees I’ve encountered during my stay for over a month in this hotel.

Stunning hotel, 5 stars, excellent service, next to the Hilton, professional and reliable staff, the rooms are huge with everything you can expect from the highest level in the world.

Breakfast was a masterpiece of chefs and professional cooks.

Room Tip: Room 1812 is great.

We stayed at this hotel during a 8-hour layover in Doha, and this hotel was arranged by Qatar Airways. We were a bit suspicious what would the experience be, but we can clearly say that this hotel exceeded our expectations.

Rooms are decent, a minor objection would be the bathroom with a funny toilet and a strange ventilation.

The thing we liked best was the dinner buffet - amazing choice of everything! And best of all - free for guests whose stay is covered by Qatar Airways.

Thing we did mind was the overall smell in the hotel. They would have a small candle-like thing in the middle of the lobby releasing that smell all over the hotel. It probably is a thing of culture - we just did not like it.

The Hotel with nice furniture, very clean, polite people with nice welcoming. However, i made the reservation from booking.com the price was fine, but later i had to know that internet not included and i need to pay ( on daily bases Internet no more option in this era) as well, the breakfast is expensive.
The Room was big, the bathroom is very good, well furnished, iron, hairdryer, 32"LCD TV, but the bed and pillows was uncomfortable (neck pain).

Qatar airlines put me up in this hotel since I had an overnight layover. I was figuring on a crappy in and out hotel, but this one was quite nice.

The check in process was a bit slower than I would have liked, but it wasn't more than 20 minutes and they had free wifi in the lobby as well as tea and apples to munch on.

The room was quite nice and spacious. It was very clean. The large window overlooked the bay, but not much to see except a dock.

The room I got had 2 queen beds and they were much softer than I prefer, but the sheets were clean and after a long plane flight and many miles walking around the city it was comfortable enough.

the bathroom is quite large and clean. There were plenty of towels and they provided all the stuff I didn't have with me since I was on an airport layover; razor, toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.

there were plenty of outlets in the room, but only 2 that could accept US plugs. The hotel did supposedly have adapters to loan.

The air conditioning was fine. nice and cool and not too noisy.

There was a mini bar in the room and some snacks, but you would have to totally starving to pay the prices they were asking.

The room was pretty quiet. The only noise was when the front desk called me at 1AM instead of the 430AM I had requested.

The food in the buffet restaurant was excellent. I was very pleasantly surprised. A great selection and a really great dessert table. The service seemed to be just fine although we ate at odd times and it wasn't very crowded in the restaurant. Sadly, I had to leave before breakfast was served.

The gym was pretty good, although they had a somewhat odd selection of equipment. A good selection of free weights, though. The gym was clean and towels, water, and apples were provided.

the pool was kind of lame. Small and very warm. However, it sure felt nice to soak after the long plane flight and walk.

I didn't get to use the spa, but it looked nice.

The location isn't terrific if all you are going to do is go to and from the international airport. It is at least a half an hour drive to the hotel and the traffic is terrible. It seemed that most of Doha is under construction. However, once you get there, it is pretty easy to see the city compared to hotels near the airport. The hotel is located on the road with all the embassies. It is an interesting walk along there if you like that sort of thing. No photos allowed, though. It is also a relatively short walk to the Corniche and the big mall. If you are staying here you must see the Doha skyline at night. It is really remarkable and worth the walk.

A final note. Qatar is a middle eastern country, but even though I am obviously an American I never felt anything but welcome there. People were universally friendly.

I would welcome a stay here again if the opportunity arose.

On my trip to the USA, I was booked at the Retaj hotel by Qatar airlines during my layover. The hotel is beautiful, cleanliness is of high standards, well located and well decorated. An amazing variety of dishes during dinner and most delicious, the best I have had throughout my trip. I have to highlight the staff really compliment the hotel, professional, highly efficient, genuinely warm & friendly. Sameer, Amr , chefs and Front desk Manager thank you for going out of your way to make my stay so comfortable and enjoyable. I felt like royalty. Keep up great work! I will definitely utilize the hotel again. I highly recommend it to anyone travelling in Doha.

Room Tip: Corner suites spacious and beautiful overlooking the sea highly recommended!

Stopped in on an 8 hours layover in Doha. We were put up by Qatar airlines. After waiting almost 30 minutes for the free shuttle bus we arrived at the hotel. They took our passports and asked us to have a seat and they would call us shortly. The check on process took over 30 minutes!!!!! I should have slept on a bench at the airport I could have saved money a frustrations!!! Avoid this hotel...no avoid this city unless you have a private jet and millions in the bank!
