“Ok for up to 3 nights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

We stayed at the Mariott for 3 nights in August 2012,
at the airport we asked for a transportation at the hotel desk inside the main terminal, the friendly guy told us it would be NEARLY the same price than a taxi.
So we agreed and booked the tranfer to the Hotel, luury car Audi A6, friendly driver - Charge 200 QR (40 EUR) Taxi costs about 60-80 QR (15-20 EUR) this is overpriced!!
Early check-in at 07 in the morning nor problem, Room was clean but very old fashionned..,
we had
breakfast at the quickbites, the food was OK but we felt like beeing at a waiting room, very cold ambiance.
The food and drinks are ovepriced aroung 10 EUR for a can of beer, or 6 Eur for a coke its not appropriate to our times (even if everything is imported and an non-alcoholic country...)

You have an direct acces to the citycentre shopping mall in the hotel where you can grab a sandwich and any kind of fastfood...
our room was at the 19th floor, but even up there you can hear the cars accelerating on the streets its very noisy u there but you have a nice view.

It means a lot to us that you found our service friendly and location convenient, and were willing to share your experiences with the Trip Advisor travel community. We always strive to enhance our service and products, and we appreciate your feedback on several prices, specifically on the cost of Coke/Pepsi which is QR15, or approximately 2.5 Euro on today’s exchange rate, and minibar beer QR35, around 7 Euro. Great apartments, well laid out and furnished. All of the staff from the Concierge to the Managers are so friendly and welcoming, nothing is a problem. The hotel restaurants and bars are excellent so you are never stuck for some place to eat or drink. The direct access to City Centre Mall opens up your choice even further, for eating and shopping. From a business point of view the location is great with many international companies close by, most within walking distance. I have stayed here many times over the last 18 months and have no hesitation in recommending the Marriott City Centre, Doha.

Room Tip: Request a room on a higher floor overlooking the Corniche and Bay.

Since my last review, I have to say that the reception provision has improved and once again, this hotel remains my 1st choice for Doha. It is very comfortable, the rooms are excellent, Champs sports bar located within the hotel seems to be the bar of choice for all expats in Doha and always full. Keep up the good work all and thank you.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room, very spacious and quiet.

We first stayed for three days, arriving in Qatar in the early morning straight off a long flight from Manchester, very hot and very tired. Airport hotel desk was very helpful, offering much-needed water and a hotel car which arrived very quickly, though not pre-ordered. All hotel staff we encountered were friendly, efficient and helpful and we'd recommend the hotel to anyone. Slight niggle was that there seemed to be a lot of muffled external noise, hard to identify but possibly from a small construction site near the hotel, but the room was otherwise very comfortable and quiet (except for the aircon when it was on full which was quickly sorted), and the bed very welcoming after our journey. Everything very clean and well-equipped and well-presented, with a splendid large bathroom with lovely walk-in shower. The whole Courtyard/Renaissance complex has a good choice of restaurants, also a lively sports bar (good for bar snacks if you don't want a full restaurant meal) and a decent-sized pool with sun-loungers and eating area, as well as a connecting walkway to the adjacent City Centre shopping mall, which isn't large but all we needed for our short stay. It was very hot and we didn't feel like sightseeing, but the Corniche was nearby (by taxi) if we'd wanted to go there. We walked to the nearby promenade one evening and it was very pleasant, though the roads on route aren't very pedestrian-friendly. We returned for a one-night stay after a few days in Dubai, and had a similar good experience with staff and room. We had a different room, again very comfortable though on a higher (19th) floor (not a problem because the lifts are fast and efficient), this time with bath/shower. A single complaint with this one was that there was no anti-slip surface in the bath, just a side handle, which was a problem when taking a shower, it felt very slippery. I'm nearly 70 and not as agile as I used to be, so wouldn't like to have taken a bath without some sort of extra mat in place.
We would certainly choose this hotel over others if we were planning another trip to Doha for its convenience and comfort.

I am here on business for 2 weeks without a car. My room is on the 17th floor overlooking the Gulf. The room is quiet with coffee, tea, mini bar (which I use only to store drinks, cheese etc).

The staff is always courteous and polite. They have plugs on the desk that support 110 or 240 which is nice. Other plugs in the room are 240 so if you have 110-240 devices you would need an adapter or a transformer if 110 only.

Nice 32" flat screen with LOTS of channels, including Aljazeera and CNN in English. Aljazeera the CNN of the Middle East is based here in Doha. They have 10 sports channels so you can watch a lot of Football (real football-soccer).

The hotel has many restaurants-an Italian, Brazilian, coffee shop, and Champions, a Sports Bar with over 40 TV's to watch American football, golf, soccer, baseball, etc. Champions is one of the few places in Doha that serves beer and wine.

You can literally walk out of the hotel and into the Mall-HUGE, with a Carrefours\"s- like a Walmart- grocery food and electronics and clothes all in one place.

If you are staying like I am for a week or more, this is a nice place to be. Staff is helpful if you need a taxi or other transportation..

Room Tip: Higher up is better-there can be a lot of traffic noise.

Room was good and clean but service was fantastic! Only issue is that they race supercars outside late at night which meant the engine noise woke me up. Service is above and beyond anything I have ever tried, but borderline grotesque.

I am currently staying in the hotel and I must say it is excellent in every way. There is a shopping mall that is part of the hotel and there are numerous different options to dine in at the hotel, spa and great gym facilities. Staff are very friendly and also very helpful! Thanks Courtyard by Marriot, I will be back, most definitely!
