“Good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

A basic hotel, in my opinion, with average facilities and amenities. Staff were courteous and helpful, although I felt they were short-handed (it was a full house). They tried to accommodate an early check-in for me as I wasn't feeling well, so they upgraded me to a huge suite with a kitchen and all, which was really appreciated. Rooms in general are fairly spacious but very basic in decor.

We had a function that evening, it went ok despite the challenges of a long narrow room to maneuver around. Food at the event was good but breakfast was minimal.

Got no complaints about the Airport pick up, or about the check-in process. Especially as I arrived at 4:00 in the morning. The room is spacious but stark, even spartan. I prefer a carpet on the floor, tiles are always so cold when you get up in the morning.

The breakfast buffet was limited, but a nice omelette and the toast was ok.

The air conditioning in the room is not good, the choice of restaurants is - limited, and the wi-fi is awful. that seems to be a feature of Ramada Hotels.

Overall, we can be generous, this hotel is just about average.

Aging hotel, a three stars, really. Service is friendly nonetheless and staff very helpful. the Qurum area gets lively at night, car cruising, cinema and a small mall. Many things are walking distance and the beach is close as well as the Opera.
The pool is horrific, tiny and the water is not top.
The gym is really nice.

Room Tip: OK if you are on a budget travel but need something not too bad.

I have stayed at this hotel for many a times and its convenient location makes me come back to this hotel time and again, It is a nice and tidy place for a comfortable stay. Hotel is situated close to the beach and also easy to get by to city center.Being a medium sized property it doesn't offer many leisure and dining choices, I would have given them very good rating had it not been to their below par food offerings in their only food outlet named Al Diwan.Front desk staff is friendly and warm. free wifi in the room and lobby makes it easier to work. A cinema is just outside the hotel if somebody wants to enjoy a movie. Hotels in Oman are getting costlier compared other GCC countries. Ramada is fairly priced for the quality of stay they offer.

It was my first time to stay in a Ramada Hotel. The hotel is clean and not very modern. Located in very good area. Close to restaurants and to the beach.

I booked executive suite and the hotel upgrade my room to Diplomatic suite. Very spacious. Free Internet all over the hotel.

Don’t expect a lot of leisure facility. The food and the service standard are very good.

Rates are not very attractive!

Room Tip: Rooms with street view with higher floor

The Ramada hotel is a fairly average place arranged on three floors but in a reasonable location. It's a five minute walk to the beach, a shopping centre and a couple of fast food restaurants the same across the highway, a cinema is close by and a 15 minute walk along the beach brings you to Al Shatti beach area amenities, shops, restaurants, cafes.
The rooms are large and the beds comfortable but sparse furnishings make them slightly unwelcoming, the ceramic tiled floors don't help, more private clinic than hotel. They have a large in-room safe, large tv with a few english language channels, plenty of hanging and storage space and iron and ironing board along with tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge. The air conditioning is blisteringly cold, not just blisteringly cold, actually barnstorming ball-shatteringly cold. I had to turn it off and open the window to get the room comfortable, but that adds noise as the most of the rooms open onto an inner courtyard where the pool is located and this has extremely loud air-con plant noise. Bathrooms are small and basic with over bath shower and flimsy curtain, good water pressure though and an often wet floor from shower overspill.
The lobby was undergoing some renovation during my stay but the reception on the left is welcoming and efficient. There is a seating area in the main part of the reception and snacks are available, Vietnamese chicken salad probably the best thing on the menu, but the whole area feels rather dated. At the rear of this area through some doors is the gym - small but good - and the pool area, which is tiny, unwelcoming and noisy, I never saw anyone using it in two stays. There's a small business centre on the left behind reception.
The restaurant is on the right hand side of reception and is a low ceilinged and dingy space. Service is often sullen or disinterested and the food disappointing. Breakfast buffet is ok but not extensive and quite why there is a lump of Stilton festering under a cheese dome on the buffet is anyone's guess. It disappeared towards the end of my stay presumably having walked out on its own. The restaurant has a small lunch buffet which is ok but again nothing special and the a la carte menu is drab and poorly done. Of all the hotels I have stayed at in Muscat this has the worst food by a long shot. The hotel is dry like many others in Muscat. There are the usual taxi sharks hanging around the entrance if you want an expensive ride somewhere.

stayed here for the week on a short vacation in Muscat. The hotel was first class as was the level of service. I could not fault it and in terms of value for money it could not be beaten. Excellent staff.Only thing to note is that some sat navs will direct you to the po box address for the hotel which is some miles away in Mutrah.

Room Tip: Go for the second floor rooms since the third floor rooms can be noisy from the roof mounted air con...
