“Heroic history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

The Jabrin fort has a rich history and has been completely restored in its old glory. All the rooms are being decorated in original style and you can feel being transferred back to the old days. Take a seat on the floor and look at the carefully crafted details. A new road is making it easy accessible from Muscat.

“A maze of beauty.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

Jabrin Fort/Castle is a wonderful example of 17th century Omani construction. This particular Fort was a place that religion, prestige, education and punishment blended. The Castle looks big from outside but its true size is seen once you enter, so many different rooms, dungeons and beautiful "quarters" make this truly a marvel to walk around in. Rooms are labeled in English so you know what you are looking at, it is an amazing site and even the grave/body of the Castles founder is there still today!

Excellent
A particularly good example of these forts - said to be the finest.
A real maze with amazing architecture and astonishing interiors.
It's a must-see even if you only see the outside

“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2013

The atmosphere is right, the surrounding is nice, and very layback .
We did this fort in combination with the palace, which was good bacause it s a long drive if you only want to visit this fort.
We also did the market , that was too calm...a few vegetable sellers and cuddle sellers, but no big crowd.

“Beautifully renovated - interesting and enjoyable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

This labyrinthine fort has been meticulously and sympathetically renovated making it a worthwhile place to visit on a trip to Oman. Set on a plain to the south of the rugged Hajar Mountains, the 17th century castle provides the visitor with great views from the ramparts. The myriad rooms are set out on several levels, connected by stairways and passages - it is a real adventure making your way around and it is a good job the castle is not any bigger or you might never find your way out. There are plenty of well written signs explaining the building's history and quite a few rooms have furniture and other decorations in them. When we went, the audio guide system was not working, but we still found the trip interesting and enjoyable. Allow about an hour for a leisurely wander round this impressive building.
