We stayed here for one night at the end of December during a week independent sightseeing in Oman. This camp is located only a few kilometers from the highway, but you feel really far away. It did seem they were building a new road right in front of the camp though. We stayed in a palmleave hut with our own bathroom. The bathroom was old and not all that clean, but then again the price of this desert camp was less than others. You could take the mattress to the bedframe outside and watch the stars or even sleep there.
You can book various activities at the camp, highlight for us being a 4wd drive through the sanddunes. as we arrived too late for the long drive (they do it only at the end of the afternoon, not in the morning), we did a short drive in our own car behind one of the experienced drivers. Exciting! It is also possible to ride a camel, but you then stay near the road. Sandboarding is also available for free and fun to do, but the equipment isnt very good (and you have to walk up the higher dunes in the sun, hothothot).
Dinner (ok, not special) is included and tea, water and coffee are available throughout the day. you are advised to bring your own alcohol and crisps. The staff was friendly and helpful, there was Omani music and dance at night (when enough people stay at the camp) and you had a great view of the desert from the restaurant area.
all in all I very much enjoyed this brief stay in the desert, another night might even have been nice.
