“Great location, great service and good value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2009

Stayed at Cavalier for four nights. Whole experience was great: the hotel is in a central location in Hamra, booking was easy and the price good value for Beirut, and the rooms are well sized and clean, all with balconies. Most importantly, the staff are very friendly and went out of their way to help. Strongly recommended!

My husband and I go to Beirut fairly often and we normally stay at the Cavalier. It's perfect as long as your not looking for 5 star luxury. It's clean, the rooms are fine, the beds are comfortable and best of all, the service is really excellent. And all this for a very reasonable price.
We've stayed at the Napoleon and the Mayflower too and although they're even less expensive, they are neither as comfortable nor do they feel as clean to me.
I think I remember someone saying that the Cavalier is linked with a university that offers a hospitality programme... perhaps that's why everyone is so eager to please. But it is genuine regardless of the reason.
Basically, there's nothing fancy about the hotel but it's a good place to sleep if you're going to be in town and it's well located.

The hotel is in an excellent location. A shortish walk from the city and the ocean. The hotel lobby is very nice - looks great and has a nice bar and lounge area. We were unlucky with rooms. We were given the worst room in the hotel because they were fully booked and we were last to check in. There were only 2 single beds for my husband and I and we were next door to the conference room. Even so, it wasn't so bad. The room was VERY small and stuffy but clean and comfortable. The bathroom was suitably functional. The staff were very apologetic for the room and promised a better one if we were to return sometime (which we'd like to do). Despite this, the stay was good. The breakfast was EXCELLENT!!!! Fresh eggs, haloumi cheese, soft bread and a good selection of pastries. I recommend this place if only for the breakfast alone. For what you pay this is a reasonably priced hotel and we would stay there again - in a better room, though!

I Stayed For 3 Nights IN This Hotel, my room was clean and big,The hotel location is great for shopping but the main problem is the traffic noise , there was a night club opposite to the hotel so i found it really hard to sleep because of the music noise at night ,the breakfast was poor and limited ,i think you can find better hotels with the same price in beirut.

I stayed at this hotel for a week in March 2008, and found the staff there to be helpful and professional. The hotel location is in the centre of shopping district and thus traffic noise is apparent especially on rooms located at lower floors and only when the balacony door is opened. I found the breakfast to be adquate with the same choice of food every day. The hotel services were very good, The rooms were cleaned and towel changed daily. The rooms were medium in size without being small even for a couple. The bed was very large and comfortable. There is an air conditioning controller in the room but I did not use due to the time of year. The hotel is generally suited to those that stay on business trips as it is not a resort type of hotel. I found the TV channel choice to be good and the staff will help you accessing other channels of choice.
Lebanon is a breath taking contry that only lack stability to rival Cyprus and other med's destinations, the people are smart, in appearence, friendly and overall honest in their dealing with visitors.
The only negative comment is the lack of real view from the balcony.

  • Liked — Smart appearence, clean rooms and level of staff service.
  • Disliked — The view from the hotel and traffic noise.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel during our first visit to Beirut in June 2006 and we were very glad that we did. We found the reception staff excellent - very friendly, helpful and professional young men. The location was great too, only a few steps from Hamra Street and a short walk down to the Corniche. The rooms were clean and there was no traffic noise at night. The breakfast was excellent with Arabic as well as western style dishes. Only a few blocks away was the best Lebanese fast food takeaway we have encountered, Babas. We would certainly stay at Hotel Cavalier again should we be fortunate enough to visit this wonderful city again.

  • Liked — friendly reception staff and location
  • Disliked — sometimes was aware of cigarette smoke permeating from ?bedspread

I stayed here for a conference. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable. For Beirut, the prices are quite reasonable, even cheap considering what you get, and the location is ideal: right in the middle of downtown. The guys at the front desk were extremely hospitable and professional. The bar is small but well designed. I can't think of anything that wasn't good about my stay.
