We actually stayed at Monroe for 15 days! First complaint was air conditioning. After a day in Beirut, please let the room be cool! No, it was not!! Seemed to be on "fan" instead of cool! But, we made sure it was on cool. We loved our daily housekeeper, so sweet, but, we would have loved a fresh supply of items we used. If you tell us not to drink the water in the hotel, then please supply us with bottled water in the room even if we have to pay for it! Had to put on clothes to go to the bar to purchase water for the room. Not convenient. Buffet breakfast: nice to be included but if you have a buffet, then keep it replenished after the first set up. No heat was used to keep the first items hot, so eggs, etc were cold soon after buffet was set up. If we decided to be lazy and eat a later breakfast during buffet hours, there was a lack of food, so if the food is available until 10:30, then it should be available. No, it was not. Guests were observed checking their watches in front of empty buffet servers. Coffee service during breakfast is lacking. How long do we have to wait for our first coffee?? We tell the server what we want and then we wait....and wait... And wait for coffee and milk. We ended up getting our own from the service trays unattended. We finally decided that the servers had been "hit on the head" or something and just didn't know any better. And this was when hardly no one was there so it was not during a busy time. The bar on the first floor was SO LOUD!! Every night was an evening of boom, boom, boom, until 2 or 3 a.m. But I suppose that is not controlled by the hotel. The staff was very polite and helpful. No complaints there. I think they are doing the best they can with limited options and/or training. WiFi. Please, wifi should at least be available at no charge in the lobby!!!! I can see charging in the rooms if you have to, but EVERYWHERE?? And, it is expensive and sometimes not available. Come on, get with the times if you want tourists as well as business guests. Rooms were fine for the most part but small bathrooms. No place to put anything. We used the hotel taxi ONE time. We're told the rate to our location and then when we got there the driver wanted $10 more than the agreed upon rate. Walk AWAY from the hotel and then get a taxi and negotiate the rate. If they don't like what you want to pay, then wait another second for another taxi. You'll get your rate. But, remember, in Beirut, no meters and they can ask for anything, so ask before getting in the car. Convenient to Zatouny Bay which is so nice. We walked to the restaurants there for drinks and lunch or dinner and got our wifi for free! Just remember to take your phone or IPAD.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We take all our guests reviews very seriously.
As of January 2013, we are providing Free WIFI for our guests in all public areas.
Regarding the AC, we had a problem with it this past summer, we attempted to fix it several times, with no success. Measures have been taken to fix the AC before the summer of 2013 and we hope none of our guests will go through that again.
As for the Service in the Restaurant and the Buffet, we apologize for your experience and measures have been taken to improve ourselves in this area.
Again we would like to thank you for your feedback, it is thanks to your reviews that we can take measures to improve ourselves.
We look forward to welcome you again soon to The Monroe Hotel.
