3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2012

Stayed here for 3 nights on a business trip. In the process of being converted to Hilton standards (now called Hilton Metropolitan Palace). Overall, the hotel is starting to show its age but hopefully once the renovations are completed, it would be much nicer.

Service is good. Room was adequate. Only complaint (and I am particularly sensitive to this), somewhat dusty and old carpet which triggered my dust allergy. Luckily, I had my anti-histamines handy.

It was my first trip to Beirut, and this lovely hotel helped me to keep good memories of my trip. We loved the panoramic elevator looking into the lobby, the suite we reserved was quite with nice view into the far mediterranean sea. Faten at the reservation were very keen to serve us and follow up with lots of e-mails. Ehab the concierge were helpful in recommending where to go and making other arrangements. Electricity were going down several times a day but this will last for less than seconds. They should provide iron with iron-table and tea kettle in each room. The hotel will soon switch to be part of the Hilton chain.

Room Tip: Get highly located rooms for best view

Hotel is good. Facilities and infrastructure are lavish.
15-20mins drive from Beirut International Airport.

Room was good and spacious. However, when it comes to services - POOR !!!

Somehow people only work only when paid - not for services they are offering with Hotel. Nothing moves if not paid. Hotel staff, Taxi, etc.

Room Tip: Higher you go - better view of city u get. Rooms in center of building has balcony attached- Can req...

Being an Indian does not qualify for a tourist visa and I had issued non refundable tickets(presuming it won't be too difficult), I had to run pillar to post but to no avail and it was only this hotel that agreed to apply my visa and made my trip happen.
The one n only lop side being location but I wouldn't recommend Hamra.
Now about the hotel, exceptional good breakfast spread at alshindgah and very attentive staff, I stayed for 5 days and once they understood my preferences they were always ready with my choice of tea etc.
Free wifi
Rooms nice and spacious they also check in eve if something in the room needs replenishing
Chocolates and fruits everyday, and cookies once.
Concierge ok can def improve but I most def recommend this hotel
