This place has been around for over 30 years. It has a charming wooden bistro interior and an outside area that has been closed off with glass. I find that in summer it's a bit hot and much prefer it in winter. I also think that because I've been going there once a year for many years, I enjoy the nostalgic experience that doesn't seem to change. Same staff, same menu, year in year out. The food is okay, their pastas & risotos are good, steaks are good. The winning dish on the menu is their Escalope Milanese, which I split into 2 dishes with a friend as it's really really big and comes with a side serving of spaghetti pomodoro, fries or salad. As in most of Lebanon, you can smoke anywhere and restaurants don't segregate non-smoking from smoking, which is a problem but it's not this restaurant, it's Lebanon. This should be a thing of the past soon as they just last week passed a law to ban smoking in public places. It will be interesting to see how they actually enforce it. In summary, I enjoy Beirut cellar for it's location in Achrafieh, consistency over the years and special dishes. Service is okay, in line with old institutions that don't have to try too hard.
