Next to the Seef Mall and so close you think you saw the entire Seef Mall - well you didn't obviously make it to Al A'ali Souk. An old souk covered with a glass roof and enlarged you will find a nearly empty lovely stroll through some very local tastes. There are plenty of clothing, jewelry, and fabric stores (though many empty store fronts as well) and a break from the relentless find it anywhere type stores at the other malls in town. We spend nearly two hours with an amazing young man named Ali who was the least pushy fragrance salesman we have encountered since arriving in Manama. And if you spend over 50 BD you will join their club. Since they have locations all over the middle east it is worth your time. This shop is the For Syed Junaid Alam and appeared to be the largest of the perfumeries we found. Lots of time for sampling and learning without sales stress. Next stop next door to the Al Bindaira cafe to relax indoors or out weather permitting. I picked up some stellar pocket squares for 4BD each from another vendor and so it goes. Relax and do yourself the favor to do it here. Old world taste with modern conveniences and NONE of the modern mall noise or bothers.
