“wonderful tour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

I loved the tour and the gentle souls who gave us the tour. It was wonderful to hear the history of the buliding and to get an insight into a different religion.

“Knowledge is power”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Took an hour long tour today of the Mosque. I was a little aprehensive, but the english speaking (Omani) tour guide was gentle and knowledgeable. I truely felt he just wanted westerners to understand the Islamic religion. I felt comfortable enough to ask him many questions about Islamic terrorist groups and misunderstood aspects of the religion. I left with a new found respect for Islam and a much better understanding that good people can be found everywhere, and not to believe everything you see and hear...The Mosque is beautiful by the way.

“Very Welcoming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 22, 2013

This is a beautiful building, inside and out. It is fairly new (built within the last few decades), so it does not have the history of some mosques. There is no entrance fee, and a tour is provided in several languages (even though there were only two of us, we got a personalized tour in English).

The only down side was I felt like the tour spent more time trying to "sell" us on Islam, than on talking about the mosque itself.

“On the tour, but just OK.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Modern, characterless place, with no religious sense that I have felt in other 'Places of Worship' that I have visited. Nice touches are materials from all over the world, and the guides were very helpful, but all in all a bit soul-less. However, that said, well done to the Bahraini authorities - at least you can visit the great mosque - you can't even get close to such places in Saudi if you're an 'infidel' !! Be prepared to have to wear an abaya or robe - issued free at the entrance.

“Interesting visit”

Made welcome and given a guided tour (donation - no charge). Interestingly, carpets woven in Ireland and all chandeliers in from Austria and other fitments from France
