“Radisson Diplomat - Best by far”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2007

Bahrain is a great place with many first class hotels. My choice every time is the Radisson Diplomat. Great service, good pricing and genuinely kind and considerate staff are a very powerful combination to making a visit a treat. I've stayed there 6 times now and their offering is consistently brilliant - my job is enhancing customer satisfaction so i am rather choosy.

The Fiddlers Bar run by Joe is also very friendly, the locals always want to get to know visitors and Joe's team is entertaining as much as it is efficient.

In the UK there is a habit for men to shake hands as a business gesture or half-hearted signal of rapport. At the Radisson when the staff get to know you they do it very authentically and back up a warm welcome with a quality of service i haven't seen before. The new Spa is also wonderful. I treated myself to a Balinese massage and 3 days on i am still absolutely relaxed. Check Radisson web site for best prices as you are likely to save a few pounds off published prices.

This hotel is WONDERFUL! The staff was totally awesome. Very helpful. The breakfast and lunch buffets were very good and had plenty of selections. The pool was great and was never crowded. The only bad things I can say is: 1) We were there during Ramadan and the is no liquor ANYWHERE in the Kingdom, except room service. Not even clubs, liquor stores, anywhere. 2) We had a smoking room and there are no vents in the room, not even in the bathroom. 3) Airconditioning kept the room cool, not by any means cold. Bad air circulation. Other than these few little things, I would definately recommend this hotel and would stay there again, except during Ramadan!!

  • Liked — pool & closeness to airport
  • Disliked — air conditioning & no alcohol

We stayed at the Diplomat Hotel in Bahrain for 4 Nights in May. The Lobby is impressive, Staff at the reception desk were attentive. The Rooms are not huge but they are extreamly comfortable, the beds and pillows are very very comfortable. The pool was being worked on at the time and there were lots of builders around but it was still useable - Not the best for a realaxing stay but at least you could cool off. We ate at the hotel 2 nights the arabian resturant on the top floor has a fantastic buffet lunch well worth a visit. Taxi rides are cheap in Bahrain but be sure to haggle a price otherwise you will be charged over the odds. The mall is great loads of shops designer and bargains. The sushi bar in the Bahrain mall is a great place for lunch. I would also recommend a meal at the polynesian restaurant at the Ritz Carlton - Fantastic food, fantastic place to eat and not too pricey. The bar in the hotel is good and gets quite busy in teh evenings, we headed into a night club - can't remember the name but ladies get free shots, there is also an after bar at the night club where we met loads of interesting people from around the world. All in all we had a great stay here.

This was our first time to visit the Middle East and we had a great time in Bahrain. A friend of ours had told us of the nice time he had spent at The Diplomat so we decided to take his advice and stay there. From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were convinced we had made the right choice. The Reception staff were extremely proffesional and a very nice German lady checked us in and showed us to our room. The rooms are very large and exceptionally clean. The best thing for me was the views which, with wall to wall windows, is something that most hotels fall short of. With a nice selection of restaurants the food was good if a little predictable. However the crowning glory was the staff. From the cleaners to the Reception staff all of them are very friendly and will go out of the way to make you happy. Great hotel - great staff!

Rasonably good hotel with nicely furnished large standard rooms.
A few negatives: the al fanar niteclub at the hotel is very noisy, be sure to ask for a room in quieter part of the hotel.
The valet parking service is not very reliable. These guys handle your car very roughly. I had my tyres scraped on the kerbside by them.
Muslim guests will not be happy that pork is served at the restaurants.

I made booking at this hotel through [--] who gave me good deal. The hotel located in diplomatic area of Manama, the public area need refurbishment specially lobby & pool, room normal size and OK with different style, I like the classic style. dining good, room service OK but slow(sometimes). the hotel is good as business hotel but it is not the top but normal 5 stars hotel.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2007

We have just returned from the Radisson in Bahrain which we chose as a short stop off on our return journey from Sydney. We specifically chose this hotel as it boasted an outdoor swimming pool which we felt would be good to relax around and get over our jet lag before the final leg on to Dublin. Unfortunately on arrival at the hotel the swimming pool was in fact a building site. On questioning this we were informed there was a fitness centre (not what we were looking for) and that all travel agents and corporate customers had been informed that the pool was being renovated (for that read completely rebuilt). What about all the internet bookers? Because of this we decided to change our travel plans and travel straight on to Dublin as a business hotel with no outdoor area was not what we had in mind for a relaxing few days. We still paid our full night's accommodation even though we checked out the same evening as we had had full use of the room for the day and the facilities in it were good. Certainly not a leisure hotel - very much geared to the businessmen.
