“Amazing oriental hospitality and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2009

It was just perfect. Check-in have been made in 2 minutes, I have got my room and after 10 minutes, while I was about to get to shower door knocked: it was a man with a big basket of 7 with a personal greeting message from hotel management! Was very surprised and touched :) Food in restaurant was fresh and well cocked, from western sandwiches to Arabic national delicatessen. Location was very convenient in walking distance to important city center of Manama.

This hotel is tired looking and rooms were too grubby for what you are paying. Room service took forever, reception not very helpful - maybe a bit understaffed? One redeeming point is that one of the few authentic Japanese restaurants in Bahrain, Kei, is at this hotel.

Central location for the Diplomatic area. The building is old and the furnishings tired. This hotel offers what most business travellers would class as 3 star service and poor restaurants. Easy to see why no longer wanted in the Hilton brand family. Across the road is the 4 star Sheraton, if you can afford it and they have space, go there.

for a medium range hotel this is a great choice. The food is fantastic. Bathrooms need more attention in the corners.

  • Liked — great food especially the evening barbies
  • Disliked — needs a little more polishing around the edges

I stayed at this hotel for business. It apparently was one of the few hotels with room availability. Contrary to a recent comment, I ended up with a room decorated probably in the 1980’s. It was fairly clean, but there was a dark footpath in the carpet and needed replacement; thankfully the hotel provided slippers. The bathroom sink and bathtub faucets always dripped. Each day I had to always ask for bathroom towels after the morning housekeeping service. Sometimes housekeeping provided towels, sometimes they did not.

The pubic areas were clean, but woefully in need of renovation. Service in the hotel was good, but I would hesitate marking this as a four-star hotel; three-stars, yes. The Japanese restaurant was very good. The Italian (UK-chain) restaurant was ok. The coffee shop was all buffet and I thought very expensive. There is also a bar, but I did not go there. There is a very good Chinese restaurant across the road at the Sheraton Hotel.

I think the one redeeming value of this hotel was the service level. While it always did not work, the staff tried to compensate. But the hotel desperately needs renovation (did I say that already?).

  • Liked — Service level
  • Disliked — Physically old and run down

First off, I was a little bit worried about some of the comments of this hotel, once i booked my room.
Yes the comments are over one year old, but I went for it,
mostly for the price range...

I was there last month, and wasn't dissapointed at all!
Stayed at a new renovated room on the 6th floor.

Buffe is excellent, delightful stuff and pleasant surroundings.
Enough to get 4 stars!

Also the city Manama is something very special...

This was the first time I stayed in this Hotel and was a little concerned by the reviews I read here, but the hotel was good, the staff were helpful. From the moment I arrived until I left nothing was too much trouble.
Yes the building is dated but the staff attitudes were not. Would I stay there again - no prblem.
