This hotel truly lives up to it's name, "Express". The amenities are basic and our room was extremely tiny, however it was spotlessly cleaned and the beds were comfortable. It is ideal for travelers passing through Bahrain, or arriving in Bahrain the night before a flight. A few more positives is that it is extremely quiet despite the chaos outside and family friendly (due to the lack of drunk partiers and adjacent clubs/bars.
We did not stay to use any facilities or even breakfast.
Although I rate this hotel as very good, we did have an issue checking in and I feel as if it could have just been a particular individual, or off night. We found the hotel room at a particular rate on booking.com, then asked to check in and the price the hotel quoted was much higher. The man at the front desked scoffed when we told him this, and then said that is impossible. We booked a room on booking.com and then showed him the reservation. He refused to check us in because he said that the reservation made on booking.com did not start until 4pm the FOLLOWING day. Since it was late at night and we were just there to sleep, my husband and I didn't argue. However, we feel that the front desk attendant was just angry that we found a rate lower than he quoted and did not agree to check us in any earlier. We ended up paying 100 SAR ($26.68) higher than the room rate because he did not want to check us in early or go above and beyond. When we expressed this to him his answer was "This is an EXPRESS hotel." Translation: You want better service, go pay for it."
Despite the small annoyance, I was extremely grateful for the cleanliness of the room and comfort of the bed. I would stay again if I needed a clean, cheap place to stay before a flight, not for a vacation.
