“Acceptable for business trips”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

I stayed there for one night so I didn't have the time to explore it all, but The hotel is somehow acceptable, it's good for business trips. They have a good breakfast buffet and that was my only meal there. The only thing that annoyed me was the floor I was in as they were renovating it so the painting odor and the workers were disturbing. The room was ok, but I think it's far from the Marriott standard.

A week in any hotel can begin to wear on a traveller, but the attentiveness and extremely friendly disposition of the staff at the Riyadh Marriott made this second week in a row of travel a delight. No request was too difficult and the facilities are as well, outstanding. Although under renovation, this activity is isolated in an acceptable manner.

First time here for 15 years and is still as dark inside as I remember. Reception and assistance at check-in good, and efficient, so no complaints.

Room has recently been refurbished, so was very good and clean - everything was brand new.

However the hotel is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment, so much of it is 'curtained' off with a lot of work going on. Not as noisy as expected, but constant building noise in some parts (6th floor). Because of this there is no executive lounge at the moment (it is is the business centre temporarily). Some lifts also out of action.

Food was OK, but choices limited to just the ubiquitous buffet or the steakhouse.

Location can be a bind as traffic outside usually at a standstill or crawling. Took us 30 minutes one morning to effectively do a 'u-turn' to get on the other side of the highway. This is a problem (as it is generally!) and you may need to give yourself extra time if moving about Riyadh.

Otherwise fine for a few days but nothing special. May be better when the work is done.

I stayed here for a couple of days during a business visit. The hotel is not exactly in the center, but not so far, maybe 5-10 minutes. Considering that Riyadh is a car on-line city, this does not matter too much anyway. The hotel is good, service okay, and the room was very comfortable. I would be happy to come here back again.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

Having stayed in this hotel for the best part of 9 months its become something of a home and having spoken to colleagues who have stayed at other hotels in Riyadh I think this is one of the better hotels relatively speaking.

The hotel has been undergoing renovation for several months and had been as noisy as a building site on occasion although the newly renovated rooms were desperately needed. The work is ongoing but is only really noticeable if you are in during the day or at weekends.

The location is good for the Government section but far from ideal otherwise - no facilities within walking distance and cabin fever if you are staying more than a couple of days. Traffic during rush hour is very heavy - driving to Olaya takes 10 mins on a quiet day but between 30-60 at peak times.

The pool, squash and gym facilities are good while the restaurant serves decent food. The prices in the hotel can be high - the laundry in particular is extortionate. Currently the Executive lounge is undergoing a much needed refurb until January so Gold and Platinum members are forced to eat in a dark windowless room on the side of the business center - what a way to treat your most valuable customers.

The staff here are great - the service may not be of the very highest standards but they give 110% effort and are always friendly and on form,

And the beds are great quality and very comfy.

I stayed there in September for a business meeting. This hotel was under renovation and because of that AC was not present in the lobby and different parts of the hotel but was present in my room. However, it was just over my head so in bed I had to switch it off to sleep.
They have large buffet but the quality was average.
My room was renovated but for the bathroom it was a quick one without transforming the bathtub into a shower. With its high walls it was dangerous. Curiously there was only one button to switch on/off all the lamps. Not really practical. The Internet was quick and good.
In summary, not my worst Marriott, but near by.
