“Not worth going for High Tea”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014

The hotel is very impressive and had heard many good reviews about eating there at various restaurants. Four of us went for high tea to celebrate a good friend leaving. Two of us ordered the Oriental high tea and two ordered the other one. I had an oriental and to be honest was not impressed at all. Presentation was good but food ... not impressed. The bread was rather dry, pastries a little dry - definitely was not freshly prepared! I had ordered water with lemon, had to ask again for water and lemon, received water no lemon, asked again for lemon, finally received it. Friends had to request more water for tea - a hotel of this calibre should not be asking for top up of water - one would think that they have been trained correctly to be able to walk pass and ask if there is anything that we would like. They were very fast to want to remove the plates even though food was still on them!!!!. and we had to ask twice to please do not clear until empty or we have indicated that we are finished. Would not recommend as apparently there are better places for High Tea in Riyadh with better quality food.

I had been invited to the Ritz for a function and it was everything I had expected it to be. Service excellent and the quality of food divine. Having visited previously I had already been blown away by the decor and ambiece so the wow factor was missing. Very nice and glitzy but just a reminder of dunyah!

This is an impressive hotel. It is enormous! It lacks nothing! It is just stunning!

Rooms are really nice and modern. Only missing a shower in the bathroom, as not very happy with showering in the bathtub. Breakfast is fantastic - it has everything, with the best selection of juices I have ever seen. Fitness centre is very good with the most modern equipment.

On the negative side, the place lacks the personal touch. It is rather cold in all its extravagance.

If you like your hotels big and grand with plenty of bling this is the place for you. In acres of grounds and with an entrance to rival regal palaces it is certainly in your face.
Big rooms with all mod cons. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Good buffet breakfast and the buffet evening meal has plenty to choose from. The Italian and Chinese restaurants are ok but expensive for what you get.
Biggest drawback if the wifi- expensive and not that effective in the rooms. Be careful, if you are there for a conference the wifi does not work in the meeting rooms so you pay for your 24 hrs and need to walk to the lobby to get connection.

I've been staying in many hotels in Riyadh for business reasons, I happened to stay in this one for 15 days in a row. The hotel is gorgeous and the impression you get from the entrance is fantastic. Rooms are just a bit below the expectation set by the reception lobby. Yuo get welcome food in room and fresh fruit every day and the srvice is nothing less than fantastic. Hotel is brand new. Restaurants and Breakfast are by far the better in Riyadh, they are expensive but the quality fully justifies the cost. The breakfast buffet selection is simply impressive.
This is not my favorite hotel in Riyadh for a couple of reasons:
1) is basically attached to the diplomatic quarter so it's a little bit far from Riyadh Downtown (Olaya/Thalia St), taxi cabs are not allowed to enter the hotel space so you need to call a taxi driver by phone or use the Hotel Transportation which is expensive.
2) A lot of diplomatic people and military people use the hotel and security measures are everywhere and very strict. Many bodyguards sometimes armed

Rest of hotel is very ok, sometime the place is crowded. One big plus is the swimming pool, beautiful. Room service is excellent and quality of food exceptional.

There is not much to say about the hotel itself - very opulent, great service, breakfast, comortable rooms. As a European woman however I lack appropriate facilities for females - the spa, gym and swimming pool are all men-only. Admittedly, there is a small ladies-only gym, which is a nice touch, but insufficient and can get too busy very easily (it only contains two treadmills, a bike, some hand weights, mats and exercise balls). Seeing that other hotels in KSA (like the Four Seasons) have introduced much more generous facilities for the women, The Ritz should also step up the game if they want to remain in the top league of Riyadh hotels.

This hotel physically lacks nothing. It is the appitamy of luxury. From the arrival, check in, concierge and general staff efficiency everything is just right. All this said, it lacks what would make it top class........CHARACTER, WARMTH.........Personality, for the lack of a better word. Even if I could afford it......not for me thank you!
