“Big Rooms - appartement style”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2012

2 big double beds - bathroom with 'normal european' toilet & shower (no bath) - kitchen & livingroom - 110V & 220V with the 2 local standard plugs. TV in the bedroom, Flatscreen on the wall in the livingroom.

Bring your HDMI cable with you if you want to watch movie/serie on the big screen instead of you computer screen!!!

If you order a coffee or thee or softdrink at the lobby... Please take a seat... It will last for a while!!! Count between 20 an 40min before you get your drinks...
Never seen that in a hotel in my whole life!!!
I was here for a whole month and every day it was the same story...
Complaining doesn't help... They don't care...

AND DON'T FORGET THE TIP FROM SOMEONE ABOVE HERE ON TRIPADVISOR:

Check the 'Boiler'-Switch in the bathroom, behind the little mirror!!! If it's off, you won't have hot water!!!!

The rooms are large, with a suite set up you have a place to relax and a nice big bedroom as well. The bed is huge and comfortable, plenty of storage space and a nice bathroom. This is my first time in Saudi and this hotel feels like any other in the middle east but without the bars and nightclubs inside. The downsides are that the swimming pool is very small and more importantly has no water in it (which I understand to be important if one wants to swim) and the spa area is a little strange, with a jacuzzi that is cold (but it does have water in it).
The room service food is cheap and pretty good, the breakfast is fine. The location seems to be fine, but to be honest I don't really know what to do in Saudi so don't know if it is good or bad, but there are plenty of market type shops to walk around to kill a few hours. Talking of killing, Chop Chop square is just round the corner but thankfully you can not see it from the hotel.
The gym is pretty well equipped and there is a table tennis table and pool table in a room next door (although we could find the balls for pool)

Would I stay here again? Yes.

The hotel was ok. The king suite was big with a very nice jacuzzi bath tub. Unfortunately their was insufficient hot water to fill the tub. The solution from the staff was just to fill it with cold water or wait for the hot water tank to heat again. When we were moved to the second room. The water was hotter but insufficient to fill the tub. I couldn't figure out how to turn on the jacuzzi as the button on the tub appeared broken. It turns out their was a switch on the wall near the door that needed to be turned on, but in all fairness, I was displeased with the volume of hot water and so I never asked. We had a nice time walking to the kingdom tower. The price of the hotel was reasonable. The road, noises , tile floor and loud door banging also made sleep in the early part of the night difficult.

The hotel is located in the deira area which is the old part of Riyadh. Some of the markets around the hotel are newly built and good for buying some traditional stuff but there are some shabby places too. Hotel staff is helpful though they can be more professional as they claim to be a 5 star hotel. Food was nice and available through 24 hour room service. Rooms were spacious with nice layout. Overall, a good value for money.

Room Tip: There is a button behind makeup mirror in bathroom (not very prominent) that you have to switch on f...
