“Two parks are better than one ....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Both the Madaban Archaeological parks are "must see" attractions for mosaics buffs. I had been looking forward to seeing the Madaban map but the exhibits in the two so called archaeological parks stole the show.

“Extraordinary collection of history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

This was an unexpected gem that we visited later in the day at 5.15pm. As we were the only visitors, the attendant gave us a personal guided tour explaining the significance of the collection.

“Do not miss!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012

The mosaics are some of the best in Jordan and sadly not visited by many tourists. On the day of our visit the 4 of us were the only visitors. The custodian gave us a brief tour which was very helpful.
If you have only a short time visit this site rather than the map!

“Could be so much better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2012

First the good bits. The parking area and the entrance to the park are spacious and well kept. And the contents of the park are well worth a visit, as long as you have a guidebook with you.

The bad bits? The worst one was the so-called visitor centre - a room where three women were sitting chatting. "Have you any books or even a map of the site?", I asked. "No", was the reply, accompanied by the shrug of shoulders and an irritated look. I then tried the police room next door and asked the same question. What a different response ...... they searched high and low for a map, but nothing in English. They then nipped next door to the "visitor centre" and reappeared within seconds with a map in English!! Two lessons here: (1) you WILL need a map and (2) Jordan's Department of Antiquities should employ staff who actually enjoy their job!!

Onto the museum itself. It's in two (maybe more) parts - and directions are poor. In addition, the information on the exhibits displayed is also poor. This really could be an interesting and informative site, but the concept of an archaeological park needs to be thought through and implemented better.

Enjoyed it but our guidebook was essential to interpret what was there.

“Must see tree of life but other mosaics displayed very haphazardly.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

The mosaics here are of extraordinary quality and would have taken a long time to do. The main exhibit is still in situ but others are displayed in odd ways given they were floor decorations.

Having said that they are interesting and there is usually a little boy hanging around who will be a guide for you. His knowledge of the site and command of English is amazing for a boy so young.
