“Not an oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

This is a four star hotel in Amman which suffers from the major drawback that it is nowhere near shops or restaurants. It is approx 7Kms from the city centre and a taxi is needed if you want to go outside the hotel or else you are trapped in the hotel with no choice of dinner but to eat the hotel fare.
The food is not brilliant but reasonable. Room service is efficient and can be relied upon when you get fed up with the dinner buffet. Breakfast is standard and nothing much to write about. Do beware of the ultra salty beef bacon!

There is no bar, at least there is no alcohol (There is a well-stocked liquor shop five minutes walk from the hotel. From the front of the hotel turn left). There is nearby convenience store for chocolates, crisps, water etc (same direction but nearer the hotel). The hotel has no shop selling such items and the room mini bar is expensive.
There is an ATM a short distance away (turn right from the front of the hotel) or you could change money at the hotel. There is a car hire firm next door.

On the plus side the rooms are spacious and comfortable with clean bathrooms, reception staff are helpful and the concierge and porters helpful.

Life in the lobby is lonely with only a coffee bar, an expensive souvenir shop and a copy of an English language daily paper. There is no other reading material.

I suppose it is a good hotel if you are just passing through Amman. Tour agencies seem to like the place. Beware of the "feeding frenzy" at meal times when large tour groups go for it with a total lack of finesse and the staff get overwhelmed.
The main drawback of this hotel is the lack of choice of restaurants, bars and entertainment.

Room Tip: Back or side of hotel to avoid road noise. There is no view to talk about! The lifts are a bit errat...

“Nice place for city trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

The Al Fanar Palace Hotel is located 7 km outside the city center. But you are fast in the city. The taxi costs about 2 JD (2.20 Euros). The hotel offers a great service. The rooms are spacious and nice. The breakfast is superb, with daily specials (European and Arab).

“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

We just spent one night in the Al Fanar Palace in Amman, but I would have loved to spend more nights there as it was really nice. We felt very welcome when we arrived. The employees offered us juice while checking in. Our room was very very huge and clean. Wifi was working without any problems. The breakfast was probably the best we had in Jordan because they offered a lot of different and fresh things. The hotel is located about 10-15 minutes by taxi from the centre, but that isn’t a problem because there are taxis all over and these are very cheap.
Al Fanar Palace has also a SPA and Fitness but I can’t say something about it as we didn’t use it.

“very nice place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

We stayed there for only one night. We would have loved to stay longer! The service was excellent. They welcomed us with a drink, arranged our taxi to the boarder and has been very kind and helpful. The room was very big, clean and toilet articels has been included. The breakfast was excellent, the selection was very good and varied from day to day as other guests told us. You had to ask for a code to access their WLAN.

“Do not stay here.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012 via mobile

I guess it has all the criteria for a 4/5 star hotel - restaurant, gym, pool, Jacuzzi, shop, plentiful hot water in spacious rooms BUT the location is terrible as is the buffet evening meal. Very difficult to get Wifi connection. Most rooms stink of cigarette smoke. Reception staff are not helpful. The room carpets are almost threadbare but the air cons work well.
All the place really needs is better management and a more careful selection of staff.
No alcohol is allowed or can be bought.
Peritas.
