“Best 3* I have stayed in, 5* service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2012

We (group of 6) used the Toledo Hotel as a base for 4 nights while we explored Jordan and took a 3-night trip to Jerusalem.

The Toledo proved to be an excellent choice in all aspects. The reception staff were very helpful, polite and accommodating. The rooms were very large, spacious and clean. The breakfast had plenty of choice in a large comfortable restaurant and every member of staff we encountered was helpful and friendly - from the doormen to security staff to kitchen hands.

If you need English speaking drivers ask for Anwar Nator or Yusuf Al Khattan who are based outside the hotel - having had a few bad experiences we were happy to eventually find these two drivers to help us tour the country (both have mini-vans which we needed and charged reasonable fees).

I would highly recommend the Toledo to any visitor to Amman. It was also excellent value for money, we booked directly with the hotel well in advance and managed to negotiate a small group discount too.

Staff very helpful and accommodating. We were originally allocated a room with single beds but were changed immediately to a double upon request.
Facilities neat and tidy.
Range and quality of food at breakfast and dinner was excellent. Dinner was off the menu and breakfast was a buffet.
Bed was very hard - only a double so if you are tall your feet will hang off the edge.
Shower in bath – clean but enamel (?) had peeled off in places
Original room had a view of a concrete wall right outside the window – second room faced south east and had a better view over a mosque and other buildings.
Free wifi from lobby area otherwise charged at 2 dinar an hour.
40 minutes from airport.

Room Tip: Make sure you request a room that doesn't have a view of a concrete wall.

We stayed here at the start of an Explore trip around Jordan and stayed an extra night in the hotel at the end and paid £50 per night per room which for the quality we thought was fairly reasonable. The rooms are big and clean and the mattresses lovely and firm!

Breakfast buffet is included in the rate as is free wifi in the lobby areas - if you want wifi in your room there is a charge.

The hotel is out of town (so mostly quiet from traffic noise!) although most places in Amman are 2JD in a taxi (Roman theatre / Citadel etc) and these can be hailed from outside the front (some try it on and say 5JD - we just walked away and got in another oe further down the road!)

For great views of the city would recommend Wild Jordan cafe off rainbow street! Great views of the Citadel lit up at night!

The hotel does not serve alcohol, however there is a off licence 5 -10mins walk up the hill (turn left out of the front of the hotel from reception) and the hotel don't mind you bringing it in and drinking it on the terrace and will happily provide glasses and ice)

The first impression of entrance and lobby was very good. The rooms are large with comfortable beds. The bathroom however stank and was very dated.
This is a muslim hotel and men and women are not allowed to swim together, which annoyed us very much, as we would have liked to freshen up after a hot day.
The food at breakfast and dinner was OK. The coffee, however tasted lousy (quality of water?)
No free Wifi.

Of all the hotels I stayed in Jordan this was certainly the best! I loved the moorish style of the lounge and restaurant, it also had the best food for the lowest price, both breakfast and dinner as well as a la carte menu. The staff was lovely, helpful and friendly, the location is great, very near the old town and market as well as the newer more upmarket shopping areas. The rooms were comfortable and with a view of the blue mosque along with the greek orthodox and catholic churches.

Room Tip: Rooms are well insulated, but the higher the floor the less the noise if you want to open your windo...

The staff really make this place. Friendly and helpful with a sense of humour- my thanks to all of them. All requests were met speedily and politely, from car and driver to Jerash, room service meal, a wake up call with free coffee delivered at 2am, transfer to airport at 2.30am. We were upgraded to a suite which was spotless and spacious, not much of a view though. The location was reasonably quiet given how close it is to a busy road, and we were not disturbed by other guests at all.

The en suite bathroom wasn't of the highest quality but there was little to complain about- everything in it worked fine. The TV reception was poor and English language channels suffered from interference, but they were attempting to fix that.

We booked as a couple but the place is used by tour groups quite a bit, so sometimes the buffet dinner is a bit crowded, but we always found seats. The food itself is average, perfectly reasonable stuff.

For a three star hotel I'd say the Toledo punches above its weight, just a few kinks to be ironed out and it would be excellent.

I'm a first time traveler to Jordan and loved this hotel. I would be so glad to stay here again. The room was spacious and comfortable. The fitness center has great hours and there is a swimming pool open every other day.

The breakfast buffet included a delicious combination of western and eastern foods including yummy falafel, scrambled eggs and potatoes, labneh, olives, hummus, and fresh tomatoes and cucumbers, and so many more things.

Others commented on the central location of the hotel and we found that this made all areas of the city just a short cab ride away. The staff was extremely gracious and spoke English extremely well. They were very helpful to our group with making plans in the area.
