“Well preserved”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014 via mobile

Beautiful amphitheatre, very well preserved. Unfortunately it was raining when we visited. The attached folklore museum as disappointing and part of it too dark to see properly.

“Very steep”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

I actually liked the Roman Amphitheater. There's a nice museum inside too. Just be careful when coming down the steep narrow steps.

It's the most interesting site in Amman. It's very well preserved and gives you a nice view over the city.

“Very well preserved and well worth the visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 3, 2014

Costs £1 to enter so a no brainer for a visit. Sit at the top of the theatre and watch the world go by in the streets below. A good starter before the main event of the Citadel.

“Amazing that it is still there”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

Having visited several Roman ruins (including but not limited to amphitheaters) before finally entering the center of Amman and its amphitheater, I was a bit tired of them. I mean, how different can they be? But this is certainly an impressive one. I think the biggest surprise is that it is still there, in the heart of downtown of a major city.
I found a photo of the area in 1917. Amman sure has changed, the theater not!
Well worth a stop and do some people watching, if nothing else.
There is also a wonderful small museum next door with nice items.
