4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

We just came back from a 6 day stay in Amman. We stayed at Le Meridien , and it was a very good experience.
The hotel is centrally located, and is within short distance by taxi from the main attractions within Amman city (for example the Citadel, the old city downtown, amphitheater, kids museum, royal car museum, King Abdullah mosque, rainbow street, etc.). It certainly loves up to the Le Meridien name and standard. An unbiased assessment would be as follows:
As one enters the lobby, one is impressed by tasteful decor and ambiance. A big turn off is that the Tiffany bar is essentially part of the main lobby, and that means more than alcohol, one finds the lobby sitting are full of smokers, just smoking away--smells of cigarettes, cigars etc. This to me was one of the few unappealing things.
Check-in was efficient. We had booked an executive club suite and a deluxe double, and got rooms right next to each other accessible by doors in-between. We arrived late morning, and helped ourselves to the buffet breakfast which was great that first day, and the variety and quality was maintained in the subsequent days. The rooms were spacious, clean, well maintained, and had abundant things available in the "refreshment cabinets" available in both rooms. The closet space was the best I have seen in any hotel, and it smelled like part of the closets were made of cedar wood. The furnishings were rich, but not on the very luxurious side, and certainly pleasing and adequate. The bathrooms were beautiful, though relatively on the slightly smaller side, however very practical, comfortable, and filled with all amenities. The room service, as well as housekeeping staff was efficient, courteous, and always helpful. Our rooms were sparkling each day we arrived back at the hotel, and the bathrooms and the supplies were each day replenished/changed/kept in such a way that it felt like we were checking in to brand new rooms every day. (this I have found at very few 5 star hotels around the world)
A big plus was the variety of restaurants available in the "food Court" area of the hotel, and minus a small bad experience in one of the restaurants, our experience at the other restaurants was just fantastic! We also had access to the Club Lounge which was great. There was always a nice variety of food items to enjoy, and the club lounge ended up to be a nice area to relax, or have a snack with a cup of tea or coffee. The staff there was very nice to us, and paid special attention to my children.
In contrast to other reviewers, I believe that the hotel staff indeed has a positive customer touch. Also while not being accessible by walking to the main malls (City center, Mecca mall, taj mall etc.) the hotel is certainly within walking distance to Jabal Al Hussein, and one can find small malls, and abundant shops to buy things from. Also conveniently located just across the road is a convenient store and a pharmacy(big plus).
The reason I give this hotel four stars and not five is the open smoking area in the main lobby, and this problematic to some of us because of the smell of smoke as well as for asthmatics who are sensitive--one certainly can not avoid the lobby too much going in and out of the hotel.
Some tips are to get rooms with the city view. Also, if taking cabs, do not take the cab outside the main door of the hotel (cabs charge a flat rate of 5-7 Jordanian dinars)--one can walk literally 20 steps and be on the main road, and find cabs in which the cost can be a fifth or less by meter.
Very nice hotel, and highly recommendable.Just wish the lobby did not have the main bar as part of it (including a cigar booth), and the main lobby was free of cigarette smoke!!
The staff was excellent, and some of the best I have come across.

Room Tip: Opt for club privilege...worth it! Get a room on the higher floors (7th, 8th or 9th) for better view...

I always visit Amman for work purposes, I loved staying at this hotel for its services , location and nice restaurants / bars they have.

they have a nice SPA and the lobby is very convenient for small informal meetings.

Those who love shopping , I don't think this hotel will meet their needs as there is no shopping area within walking distance.

first impression is good when you enter the lobby, but the hotel is missing the final positive customer touch and dedication to customer requests.

Had mentioned to the reception manager that I intend to stay at the hotel for my birthday. Mentioned this again upon checkin and got confirmation that something would be arranged. The next day the same reception clerk confirmed it and on the actual birthday nothing was done. Had been addressed the case to a member of reception but he did not really understand sufficient English. After addressing the complaint again the new duty night manager (Mohammad) took care of the case, though he had not been briefed. Finally the birthday treat arrived at 23:58 h.

The next day the fruit basked with remaining fruit was removed by the person cleaning the room.

Taking a Royal Club room the size is nice, but the room needs a refurbishment. Fresh flower in the bathroom was not replaced, toiletry products irregular.

Under consideration of all aspects of the stay the hotel is not badly located, but needs some additional staff training.

Bed is not meeting SPG standards since no "Heavenly Bed" was provided. Too soft with uncomfortable pillows.

Staff in Lebanese restaurant pushy and not attentive. Food not really authentic to Lebanese cuisine.

Not meeting really a 5* hotel

Room Tip: please ask for a room not facing the highway which assures you a quiet night.

This is a relatively an old hotel, but very well maintained. This is a busy hotel with lots of restaurants to chose from, a great fitness centre and spa.

The hotel offer large banqueting facilities and is very busy.

The Royal Club Lounge is also very nice and offers god service almost through the day.

The staff is super efficient.

The hotel offers a very comfortable stay and is well priced for Amman standards.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

We stayed here while on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, visiting Jordan first and then Israel. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms very spacious, and the buffet was excellent. I always enjoy the free slippers, a big bathroom, and a magnified makeup mirror. The staff was very helpful, but we were promised a shirt for my husband from Harley Davidson by the concierge, and we never heard from him about it...kinda disappointing. We also had to pay for the internet.
