“A unique place in the heart of Amman”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

I stayed here a total of four nights, and would definitely come back. The hotel is managed by a truly lovely team hailing from Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan. The location can't be beat with views from the rooftop cafe over the ancient Roman ampitheatre, and it's short walking distance to great local restaurants such as Hashem and Aubergine, as well as the old Citadel. The hotel staff was very friendly and welcoming and greeted me by name when I returned from a short trip to Jerusalem. They arranged several taxis for me for very fair prices (to Allenby, the airport and Jerash), and can organize a multitude of trips around the country. I had several different drivers, but recommend Khaled Abu Sawfyan for his excellent English, great sense of humor, and depth of knowledge about Jordan (he grew up on the street where the hotel is located).

The rooms are simple and in need of updating, but everything was in working condition (hot water, AC). I had no serious concerns (I left my valuables in the safe at the front desk when I was out), but the locks on the room doors seemed a bit flimsy as well. There is wifi in the hotel lobby and restaurant, but it didn't work in the rooms.

The nightly dubke dancing at the restaurant (excellent baba ghanoush and chicken shish tawouk) is not to be missed. I sometimes shy away from these types of things because they seem too forced and "touristy," but it quickly became obvious to me that this is for the staff's own pure enjoyment.

Great value and highly recommend if you like staying in places with more charm than amenities.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in front for views of the Roman ampitheatre and hills of Amman.

We had one night here simply as a stop over before going south, but ended up being very grateful we had chosen this as a base to explore the fascinating city of Amman. The hotel has its own decent restaurant, which was welcome as we landed late in the day, and is one minute from the extremely worthwhile Amphitheatre (a must for 1JD entry!). The roof terrace also offers a rooftop view of Amman that is quite difficult to get elsewhere.

The rooms are not exactly modern, and the hotel has certainly seen better days (although the lobby is smart enough), but the friendly and helpful service (particularly from the cheerful guy who is on hand to assist with luggage and other queries) more than makes up for that, as well as the price! Its clean throughout and the shower was warm, so this place is a really obvious choice if you are not looking for a luxury hotel in the city but want a relatively comfortable night's sleep.

The pre-arranged taxi from the airport was also a really good service (25 JD) as the manic rush to work out where, where to, and how much, taxis are when you first land somewhere new is never a highlight of a trip.

Fully recommended so long as you are not looking for utter luxury.

We stayed two nights at this welcoming and friendly place.
After a smooth arrival with the taxi from Amman airport we were welcomed with Baklava and tea.
The restaurant is very nice and the breakfast in the morning was also tasty.
Everyone went out of their way to make you happy. The people are the biggest asset at this budget place. They really make the difference and try to make you feel at home! They are very helpful with organizing taxi's and giving advise for the buses to tourist spots. If you are lucky you can find other travellers to share a trip to save money.
The location is perfect in the centre of the old town. Opposite of the Roman Theatre and a small walk from the Citadel. Shops, ATM etc. are just around the corner.
The rooms are average as you would expect from a budget place in a capital city. The smell of the bathroom was terrible, but once you are enjoying the hot shower (with great power) you don't really smell it anymore.
If we would stay in Amman again, we would not doubt to book this cheap place again.

Room Tip: We had a room at the front of the hotel, which was pretty noicy. We would recommend staying at the b...

Good value. The food is good, the Internet works ok most of the time, central location. Staff friendly and welcoming. Some are on the ball, others less so. Difficult to find somewhere to sit where someone isn't smoking but as wifi isn't available in the rooms, you must sit downstairs somewhere. Organization of taxis a bit hit and miss so double check your transfer booking. Bed = hard. The call to prayer is early and loud. Funny how you can sleep through it in some places and not others. The elevator is also a bit noisy so perhaps request a room away from the elevator. Overall, it's very good value for a centrally located hotel.

Room Tip: Away from elevator

My Grandma and I felt welcomed and looked after the moment we stepped through the door.

In my years of travelling around various continents I have never felt more welcome at a hotel. The staff are extremely hard working and do everything in their power to make you feel comfortable and have a pleasant stay in Jordan.

As soon as we entered the hotel, we were greeted with tea, introduced to all the staff, and given maps and other useful documents detailing the top places to visit. That's not to mention the kind gentleman who carried our bags to our rooms.

The hotel's restaurant, The Pizza Roma Cafe, is a great place to eat and relax in the evenings. The food is reasonably priced, the Arabic coffee tastes fantastic, and the free WiFi and comfy seating area lets you kick back and keep in touch with the online world.

To our pleasant surprise, the staff put on a show every evening mainly consisting of traditional dancing. It's entertaining and something I had a go at myself.

On the two occasions we stayed there, the rooms were mostly clean and tidy. We certainly couldn't complain considering the cheap price we paid for the rooms.

I highly recommend staying at the Amman Pasha hotel.

Thanks to the staff for such a memorable stay,

Matt and Christine

This hotel was everything I had hoped for. Friendly, helpful, clean, quirky, affordable. The rooms are VERY basic, but if you are anything like us, we used the beds and showers and that was all that mattered! The staff was so flexible, patient and helpful! They helped us have pizza and beer on the roof., They assisted in getting drivers for a visit to the Dead Sea and to the airport. They were knowledgeable about shops in the area when I needed an additional suitcase. The breakfast was fresh and delicious! The front of the hotel is fab for people watching. It really is a great place! I still never was able to ask about the crazy mannequins made out of plastic jugs out front, but maybe some mysteries are best left unknown! If you are OK with basic and quircky - this is your place!

Room Tip: There is an elevator, but if it is in use, it is best to take the stairs. If you are impatient, I wo...

In a land famed for its friendliness and service, the staff at Amman Pasha Hotel, take hospitality & service to a new level. Hussam, the receptionist on duty whilst we were at the hotel offered exemplary attention to detail, friendliness and a complete dedication to service.. from arranging a free shuttle up to the Citadel to organising a fab trip to the Dead Sea and onwards to the airport. A special thanks must also go to our lovely driver... didn't get his name but he was wonderful.

The hotel itself is basic but perfectly adequate, with free WiFi and a great breakfast. When you are paying the rates this hotel offers, you can not expect the Hilton... but what you get here is a simple room, with ensuite bathroom, clean linen, clean towels and just fabulous hospitality.Looking around the lobby, I saw notices offering tours and trips, which they should promote more... as we would have used Amman Pasha rather than the less satisfactory hotel we did use.

A good hotel in very interesting area.. just below the Citadel and opposite the Roman Theatre... but its customer service lifts it beyond any other budget hotel I have ever visited. A lovely hotel.. highly recommended.
