I was in Amman for a business trip and one of our colleagues has heard about this restaurant. Hashem is a very old restaurant in Amman, particularly known for its falafel, but they had the best hummus I have ever had also!!! It is by the Al-Amir Mohammed Street in downtown. The staff is very welcoming and friendly.
It is also a recommended restaurant by Lonely Planet where you can find local food, local atmosphere and for all aged people. If you are walking by the street and you have never heard about it, you would never have stopped by the restaurant, since it is not an attracting one in terms of decoration and / or fancy people around. Howver, if you would recognize the business of the place and the servers even not stopping for one minute, you will never skip this place!
The service was very basic. We had deliciously cooked falafel, pita bread, hummus, hot pepper sauce, fuul (fava bean dip), some onions, tomato and cucumber. We only paid 3-4 Jordanian dinars per person (1 JD equals approximately 4.5 USD) including the black tea aromised by fresh mint leaves! It is extremely cheap compared to what you will taste!
Shortly, Hashem is a legendary place with great food and that you should experience if you visit Amman!
