“Excellent Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2010

This is one of the best restaurants in Amman. Food is excellent. It is unique restaurant because it serves some Iraqi food. Clean. Also good selection of alcohol that very few restaurants outside five star hotels you can find in Amman. Service is very good. I still remember young and tall Egyptian guy who was engaged in conversation with us and was very polite. His English was good. It's dim light makes you relaxed and comfortable. Restaurant is big and always has tables, and they don't play game "hard to get" like for instance Fakhr El Dine likes to play. I ate Iraqi kebab and like it. My friends ordered different food and all were satisfied. Also we had local Jordanian alcohol-arak named Haddad Gold. It was good. Definitely on of the best restaurants in Amman.

“Reminds Me of Baghdad, In A Good Way”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2009

So was in Baghad in 2003 and ate a fair amount of one of the only real Iraqi dishes -- masghouf (muzz-GOOF) otherwise known as Iraqi river fish. Great, great stuff. So this place is owned by Iraqi expats who wanted to open a restaurant to serve the big Iraqi expat community in this part of town. It's a nice enough place -- looks neat from the outside and is large, roomy, and comofrtable on the inside. You'll likely end up ordering the traditional mezza like everywhere else, but give the masghouf a go if you like fish. And definitely ask to watch the process in the back if you like to see your dinner go from tank to table.

“Iraqi Food in Amman”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2008

Very good food -- not that different from Lebanese or Persian food -- many of the middle eastern foods you'd expect -- hummus, grilled lamb and beef, eggplant, etc. They had a grilled fish that was excellent - -you can see the fish live before they grill them on a fire in the back portion of the restaurant in the courtyard. The service is great although most of the waiters don't speak very much English, but you can still get what you want. Alcohol and smoking are allowed and they do have argeliah. Tourists and locals were both there, both times we went. The decor is fairly formal but not stuffy and you don't need a jacket to get in. (Amman has over 1 million Iraqis who have fled Iraq) Prices are moderate and you can fill up by ordering appetizers for 2 to 3 JD but entress are only in the 7-12 JD range. Close to the Sheraton and 4 Seasons (less than 2 JD cab ride) depending on the cab driver.
