“Great local tapas”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2012

Friendly waiter translated entire hebrew menu to english (every dish) for us. The staff in general were very welcoming and very helpful giving us a slice of pie to try for free when no-one could provide the translation for the type of fruit inside.

Dishes were creative and fresh, made with local produce.

Atmosphere was nice. Go early for a quieter meal. Gets busy late.

“My Restaurant of the year 2011”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2011

Brilliant food (fresh, fish, adventure, mediterranean), nice staff that translates the hebrew only menu. What an experience. Alternative - chique people. Google Loz ve Joz for pictures.

“Good eclectic food, telavivian place”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2011

The food they provide is rather tasty, although the cuisine is “eclectically” chaotic. They have both meat, fish and vegan options, although their choice is restricted to a one-page menu that over the past year has not changed. Minor detail, the menu is rigourously in Hebrew and waiters might not be fluent in English or other languages.
My dish of grilled calamari, was served on a bed of yogurt and mint, with stripes of toasted focaccia and grilled tomatoes. Their fish kebab is also an interesting mix of fish with more unusual ingredients (hummus, bread, coriander). If you are pasta lover, this place surprised me offering among the best fetuccini with artichokes in Tel Aviv. Conversely, desserts are not their best choice.

Appetizers and pasta are between 25 and 50 NIS; mains range instead from 60 and 100 NIS. A dinner with a shared salad, and two mains without wine, cost 180 NIS (including tip). If you add wine from their rather variagated menu, you can easily get to 300 NIS (in two).

Mainly recommend to hang out with small groups of friends or partner. Definitely not for families or couples with children. It can also be an alternative to the mainstream bar scene. Booking is not generally accepted.

“Never again!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2011

I don't think a restaurant that charge so much for the average food may show no respect to it's visitors.

We order wine that came opened to the table, we were shocked and got answer from the horrible water that this is part of the "non sharlant" attuned of the place. Really???

Would not recommend this place to anyone.

“Cool, stylish Israeli semi-counterculture place.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2011

A restaurant that represents some of the best sides of Tel Aviv - it captures the combination of casual and style of the city remarkably. The food and atmosphere are excellent - it's often frequented by the best musicians in Israel (but not the best known, mind you). Before opening this place the owners had a wonderful, famous place for soup in Jerusalem. The downside of Joz ve Loz is that it's not cheap (and the portions are small) and it's often full. But definitely one of the better places to visit if you're in Tel Aviv.
