“Not the hilton”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2014 via mobile

One of the miracles of the modern world, how they get a single bed inside a cupboard!!!!!! Fairly run down place that sort of just hangs in there. Everything is basic and a bit rough. But the staff are nice, friendly and helpful and close to the beach. It won't be one of the highlights of your trip.

The Sky Hostel in Central Tel Avid is an excellent place to spend one night or several. The rooms are basic, but Amit, the manager and his staff are excellent hosts. They are very friendly and patient and can answer all your travel questions about places to see in Tel Aviv or how to go to other cities. I highly recommend it. Amit also manages another hostel near by with equally friendly staff.

Although I took a room 'with private bathroom' (which was really a closet with a WC and a shower tray), the Sky is a hostel, not a hotel, so it's not fair to expect more than the basics. But just the basics would be fine, if a place is reasonably pleasant and cared for. The Sky, on the other hand, looks like they seeing how little they can actually spend on the joint before they close it down (or maybe it will just fall down). I couldn't really say how clean the room actually was, because everything was just so old, shabby and tatty. By any yardstick it's the most decrepit place that I've stayed in for many years, across five continents. But in the interests of balance, two positive things. Firstly, the location, just two streets back from the beach front. Second, the staff were quite helpful. But I'm astonished that some people rate the Sky as VG or even Excellent. Really?? If that's indeed a reflection of what you can expect from hotels and hostels in Tel Aviv, I'm just glad I only had one night to spend in the city.

Room Tip: Are there any 'good rooms'?

I stayed at this hostel for 2 nights and it was quite nice. Rooms and toilets were clean. Security is no issue. And the staff is friendly. Too cheap to have all of them. In fact, a friend of mine stayed in an expensive hotel but the service was really poor.

I stayed here for a few nights in a private room and it's definitely a place I would recommend if you just need the basics to be content. The location is the biggest plus as it is near the main market, shopping centers, and the city's central places, not to mention the beach! They have warm water and windows that allow fresh air into the rooms.

I've stayed at the Sky Hostel in Tel Aviv several times during the last summer.

The rooms are clean, good size and very comfortable. The prices are the best you will be to find in expensive Tel Aviv.
Service is very good. They also provided cake and coffee in the morning. In the lobby you can meet people from around the world and I created a lot of interesting friends. The WIfI is pretty good.
If I could I would have stay longer than planned for sure.

The location is great, Right in the heart of the city. The Beach's are 2 minutes walk, the shops and restaurants are 5 minutes walk. The noise form the street can be sometimes to noise but what you can do when you stay in the most popular street in Tel aviv...
Wonderful place for singles or couples
The next time I'll visit Israel again I'ill definitely stay in Sky hostel again.
