“ophir hotel, do not go there”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

tel aviv, 18.10.2012

just left the hotel, never again... noisy, messy, dirty, not well maintained... the whole building should disappear... missing light bulbs, no spare, air conditioning turned off early morning, dirty and smelly bathroom, furniture is not second or third hand but rather four, breakfast just bears the name...
arrived yesterday night, paid around 100 swiss francs for the room and could not find anything else without paying at least the double... tel aviv is a rip off... going back home...

The hotel in general was really torn-down, dirty and old, incapacious.
The breakfast was not served in the restaurant since they untrue claimed that they had
plumbing issues, more likely they had put this in system so say so to unstead offer a “breakfast” to pick from a table at the reception which was only cheep sponge cake with undrinkable tea and coffee. The hotel did offer to bring breakfast to our room, after complaining. Usually they would`nt care about anything, even that I mentioned that I do wright reviews. But after asking for refund, they came with only a plate of sauces (2 of them were rotten) and just bread.
We could not change the AC in our room, either it was ON or OFF, so it was either to cold or to hot
I had paid extra for a better room, and got one with a normalsize bathtub with some holes around, with was unclean/filthy. No drain-hole in the floor, the water was on the floor even the day after. The curtain was touching the body under showering.
There was nowhere to rest outside our room.
Booking.com tried 2 month to have them refund me without successing and paid me from themselves with a only a part and poorness in the whole case. Still they keep such a hotel as co-partner.

On the second day thief is entered through terrace and while we were sleeping, stole cash and two mobile phones Reported the incident to the police and nothing. avoid this hotel. Unclean, noisy, the staff uninterested for guests needs. Desperate

Room Tip: one room with terrace but not safety and noisy

This hotel is located very central and an option when you don't want to spend to much money. But honestly- the rooms are in terrible condition: the walls are dirty, the sink didn't work and it's pretty noisy. And which is the worst of all, there is no welcoming atmosphere, the staff really doesn't care about the guests. And because of that I will definitly not go there again.

prime location but noisy from the near street. basic conditions. asked for cash payment. air condition is controlled from front desk.
if u are alone or couple with little money you can go there. don't pay over 75-90$ it doesn't worth more. not for families and kids. it looks like they also give rooms by the hour

If you are looking for a hotel where you will only stay for sleeping (and not for spending the rest of the day in a luxurious jacuzzi), Ophir is a reasonable deal. Its location cannot be beaten: within a walking distance from Rothschild Ave. and right across from the Dizengoff Tower/Centre! The building, rooms and in particular the bathrooms are pretty old and to some extent run down, but I did not see any problems with regards to cleaning. (I saw pretty dirty famous hotel chains in the US!) I left my laptop in my room all day long for 5 consecutive days, and I still have it, i.e. nothing was stolen from my room! Breakfast is below average, I would recommend following the magical smells coming out of the bakeries nearby and having a breakfast there. Final note: recommended rather for backpack travellers and couples...

Wonderful hotel great location. Surrounded by many restaurants and night clubs. We were able to walk to the beach. The hotel owner was very friendly and remembered my name. He also told jokes and teased me until I laughed. The breakfast was outstanding. I would reccomend this hotel.
