The atmosphere is awesome. This place had been brilliantly renovated to preserved this old place's spirit. From inside or outside this is simply wonderful. The staff is also attentive and caring.
This is famous Jonathan Roshfeld chef's restaurant. I do believe he is now one of the top chefs in Israel and his other restaurants are having wonderful kitchen. This reputation in addition to the high pricing of Alma creating expectation that Alma will match or even exceed the other Roshfeld restaurant, but it is not there yet.
I had grilled white Corvina fish (Moosar in Hebrew) for main. It's been served with grilled carrots (white, purple and orange - total 3 pieces), 3 pieces of grilled beetroot and white steamed rice. The serving was beautiful, but at the end of the day it was a fillet of grilled fish with grilled vegies... nothing special and it cost... I paid half elsewhere for the same quality.
The starters and other main courses were about the same. They were very good, but for this price and the Roshfeld reputation I expected more.
Maybe what justifies the price is not the food, or the chef, but the atmosphere that this place inspire. I would not dispute it. This is great place, but maybe for drinks, snack and appetizers.
