If you arrive at Ben Gurion Airport, if you haven't prepared your transportation, don't panic, if you are an easy one to get stress, just go outside of arrival hall, make a far left, shelter number 3, get your taxi there, there is a TV board showing you and explanation how much is your fare, to Tel Aviv is about NIS135-140 (1USD=3.50NIS as of now), they charge your bag, it's said you can pay with Credit Card but our driver won't accept it. And make sure you ask and confirm it to driver, how much, before you ride, otherwise price can suddenly change when you arrive at destination. It's your choice, flat rate or meters (flat rate better if traffic takes in place). Just be aware, all information booths or security personnels are not that friendly to ask for direction or anything you need around airport, so please prepare your stuff from home.
It takes about 30 minutes drives from airport to this hotel, located in across USA Embassy. The hotel reception is on the4th floor, and you won't see a bell boy at the hotel entrance, that's for sure and this hotel has 2entrance, one from the Main Street which is closed during night times and the other one is from other pathway.
This hotel is just a block a way to beach, surrounds with other hotel such as Best Western and Park Plaza Orchid also Mc Donald's is so close by it and lots of eatery surround it.
So, you might want to use the lift if you carry heavy luggage or just climb the stairs, the business centre for this hotel is located on the 3rd floor if you need to have your works done. We decide to choose this establishment after days and nights browsing thru Trip Advisor and all those nice review really caught our attention tho. Now the story begins...
After fly very long hours and requesting for early check in, we finally arrive at hotel so tired and understand that our request is given if there is room available at that time, meanwhile we are waiting for room, we sit down to relax at lobby and browsing the Internet , checking our emails, googling local map, researching tours etc, so we are waiting and waiting and finally we have been told that the hotel is in overbooked situation.
Alright, what happen next?, so the Manager Ms Meital finally offers into different hotels to stay and meanwhile she takes care of us to find different hotels, she allows us to have some pastries, juices and coffee at their café. She is very pleasant and helpful.
So finally, we arrive in different hotel, to make story short, the new hotel that is given, the miscommunication start to happen from the beginning, they told us they don't have room etc etc etc,it was a nightmare so finally we ask this new hotel if they can connect us with Ms Meital and see what happens?, so we finally stay 2nites at the new hotel assigned and after that we must come back to Embassy Hotel to continue the rest of our stay. And Agoda where we bought the voucher from, we sent them email on the day this happen and until this review is posted, we heard nothing from them...nothing at all, not even to say sorry nothing...for the inconvenience.
Alright, back to real review now..
We are back to this Embassy Hotel and meet different receptionist and at first he confused since he told us, your name is not there for today, we explain the situation and he finally realizes and they start to prepare the room. And we again meet Ms Meital , the Manager and she upgrades us to Superior Room.
The room is spacious and very nice and fresh smell...love it.
In our surprises, a sparkling wine and a chocolate with a card in handwriting to welcome us and to thank us for the understanding are there on the table. That is a very nice and good gesture and we really appreciate that, it makes us feel welcome and special.
The Flat TV is there with great channels, the refrigerator (empty) is there to use, armoire, nice lighting, perfect.
The bathroom, love it!!!!, it's a nice size and great shower (no tub), nice toiletries, so clean and fresh towels... Really great.
The bed, well, wish the bed is softer tho, of course it's about people preference , for us firm bed is hard to sleep with, and since our room is facing the street, oh boy..that's something right there. Noisy!!!, yup, we read Trip Advisor from other member and we request to have room not facing the street but we assume that the superior type of room are all facing the street then, put it that way. Yes, it's very noisy, nite or day, and the window is not soundproof yet. How about WiFi?, it's free and it drops multi times during nite time or no WiFi at all during midnight to early morning, it is down.
We found that the people are working here are so nice tho, so from day one till the day we come back, we found the staff are so helpful and they also help us to book the tours too which is great. Until the very last day when we check out, that's a mess right there. We ask the receptionist few questions about airport, taxi like general thing for Tel Aviv, and he starts with don't know that, not sure this, never tried that, oh boy.. Tough!!!, he is more likely don't know for everything. Then we wait for our taxi to take us back to airport and taxi never shows up so we walk back to him and he finally says that they forget to call one for us, so they ask us to wait for several more minutes until we decide, the taxi never comes and we just stop one from the street and please don't forget to ask how much for the fare. And honestly, we don't feel safe when taking that taxi, which the driver takes this route and changes his mind to another route and going to building and stop somewhere, having problem with tyre, oh boy..it's not good.
In our opinion, the hotel in Tel Aviv area is incredible, it's super expensive, they are way overpriced, you will be surprised to find out how much for those name brand hotels. The service given is not justified for what you paid, especially when you are a savvy person. So try to browse and give yourself a time. Overall, I assume, they are pretty much high $$$ due to location.
As far as for this hotel, most of staff are so kind which I put my 2thumbs up for that, like I said, you will find seldom for good service with smile from the heart around the area...
Ask the room facing inside the hotel not outside to street as it can be noisy.
