Beta is located at the heart of Ramat Aviv, and is one of my favorite places to dine in the city.
It often seems that Tel Aviv caffes share the same menu. Beta is not like that, and offers dishes that diverge from the common offerings. Among my favorite dishes are the shrimp paste (excellent carrot-cream sauce!), the home-made sausages, the yogurt soup, the Morrocan Frena bread and the alpha-beta salad - you won't find similar dishes anywhere around, and they are exquisitely delicious. Even more common dishes such as the cesar's salad and pasta with tomato sauce are executed well.
The atmosphere is very nice, with indoor and outdoor sitting. The patrons are as mixed as the local population - students leaning over their laptops, businessmen enjoying a good business lunch, families, couples, etc. Service usually good, though when it gets crowded it might take a while for the dishes to come out.
Overall, a great place for dinner or lunch. And be sure to try that shrimp paste, yes?
