Other reviewers have called Park Hayarkon Tel Aviv's "Central Park", and like the one in New York is has distinct areas for different types of activities. Near the Luna Park is the children's area, where you can find a large playground, bike rentals, the lake with pedal boats, the Tzapari bird park and Junga play center, and a petting zoo. In summer and holidays there is also a small "train" (really a golf cart with trailers) and pony rides. If you enter closer to the sea end (by the old port), there are all the sports facilities, more bike rentals, and a lovely river walk. Close to the Shitrit interchange is the Society fo the Beautification of Israel, a small museum of natural preservation efforts, gardens of indiginous plants, and a dairy resataurant overlooking the river. There are busses that run up Ibn Gvrol to the sea end of the park, and the children's side is walkable from the university train station.
