“History and ethnography in an archeological setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

An eclectic collection that includes glass, jewellery, ceramics, stamps, and even a planetarium all on a partly dug archeological site. The permanent collection of holy-land Judaica is excellent. The complex is beautifully landscaped. The museum shop is the best museum shop in Israel and a perfect place to buy upscale, original gifts for friends and family back home.

“If you have time - check it out!”

This museum was not close for walking but once I was there I am glad I went. The staff was helpful and interesting to speak with about the exhibits.

“Multi faceted views of Israel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012 via mobile

The Eretz Israel museums, a collection of not necessarily related aspects and concepts of the country of Israel, is a hit and miss. The various separate pavilions, including coins/ money/weights through the ages, pottery, mosaics, photography, development of the postal service, tribute to baronvon Rothschild, a planetarium and excavations, to name a few , have varying degrees of sophistication and completeness. Best done is the coin/ money through the ages, neat and organized, polished and chronological , to the pottery ( sparse, somewhat random and disjointed). The development of the post office was interesting, and was paired with a small exhibit regarding Israeli support for the Spanish independence, and a photographic documentation of American postcard and photo depictions of a staged and romanticized middle east of the 1920's-30's. Unfortunately , two exhibits if interest-- glassware and the planetarium were closed. The sundial garden was bereft of Plantings and was looking tired. A photographic study of the diverse people of Israel, some followed over time, was especially compelling, however the diversity via the narratives was only available for those who could read Hebrew. The Rothschild pavilion re a tribute to the benefactor who supported the concept of a return to Israel was fascinating, though the audio in the presentations was not working and neither was the a/c

“An interesting museum of you like archaeology”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

The museum is just north of the Yarkon River and easily accessible. The pavilions and open-air exhibitions deal primarily with the material culture of the Land of Israel. The exhibitions are well-laid out.

Baron Rothchild exhibit, history of coins...could go here every day for a week. It was not crowded and we walked (pretty far) to get there from Dizengoff Street hotel
