“Old and Dated Property but Decent Service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2012

We stayed at the Hilton Tel Aviv for 3 nights. We had heard that the guestrooms and property were dated, so we weren't surprised or shocked by our room. Our room was decent-sized with a small balcony and its decor showed the property's age. Although our room was "non-smoking", it still smelled of stale smoke and housekeeping had to come in our room and spray a smoke-neutralizing scent. The club room seemed more like a crowded cafeteria than an exclusive place to unwind with drinks and appetizers. The hotel has a great location close to the beach and shopping.

The service on the other hand was better. The staff was generally friendly and responsive. They didn't do anything that strikes me as memorable or disappointing. So I don't have much to say about the service.

My only suggestion would be for management to consider renovating all the guest rooms.

Thank you for your review on your stay with us at the Hilton Tel Aviv.

I am really sorry to read that your experience was not completely satisfactory. Most of our guests will not compromise on our new Executive and Vista Club rooms which are all new. We have completed the renovations of the top nine floors of the Hilton Tel Aviv.

We have increased the living space of the new rooms and expanded the bathroom to include modern features and a separate shower. One more floor will be renovated this winter for your convenience.

Unfortunately, you booked one of the few non renovated ones and your experience was not exciting.

Please come back to visit us and enjoy sunny Tel Aviv.

We started our trip in Tel Aviv at the Hilton and it was a perfect place to start. The rooms were well sized but the bathroom small. The service first class, very attentive. Shame that the new door keypass system didn't work properly though. The view of the Med was breathtaking and it was a great location to restaurants and walking around the vibrant city of Tel Aviv.

Dear Guest

I would like to thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to write a review on tripadvisor.

I am pleased to read the compliments for the hotel and our team.

Sorry for the key card misfortunes. Our new contactless electronic door locks, which offer highly reliable security features and provide convenience and ease of operation for our team members and guests alike. Unfortunately some malfunctions occurred during the installation period.

My apologies again.

Thank you for sharing your review with the Trip Advisor travelers.

With warm wishes

This Hilton hotel - one of the luxurious choices in Tel Aviv (and there aren't many) provided me and my family a very pleasant experience in every aspect of our stay. The reservations staff and hotel staff really went far and beyond to make sure we have everything we needed as we were a family of 4 in one spacious room. Each day they'd send some indulgence such as a plate of fruits, wine, chocolates, etc.
Breakfast is so rich you can't get enough of it. Really good.

I didn't give it a 5 star because of the little things that are so typical in Israeli hotels (and I have stayed in many for years), starting from the maintenance and the appearance inside the rooms and corridors (as one would have expected from a cat 7/5 star hotel), lack of attention to those details such as the bath, shower heads and stuff like that which makes you think they have saved expenses to get the cheapest possible (I mean I wish there was a global Hilton standard for how hotels worldwide should look like and what amenities they must have).
In the dining room while the food is great, the hotel did not give so much attention on the aesthetics and convenience. For example: serving utensils (using regular forks, spoons to pick food from the buffet. To me this is mediocre) It doesn't look good.

In the lounge choices of drinks and food were limited. In my opinion the lounge itself is a great miss because the view is spectacular but there is only a very tiny porch where only one table is located and who ever grabs it first can enjoy the scenery but the rest are stuck inside.

Parking and internet can be expensive so make arrangements if you can (although for Hilton Honors' members Internet access is free - sluggish but free)

On and all, we have enjoyed staying there so much that we have extended our stay for one more night (total of 9 days) and left with heavy feelings.

We'll go back in the future...

Room Tip: See view or Jaffa view they are both great

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments on this website and I wanted to personally respond and thank you.
Feedback is always important as it is a vital way of reviewing the level of service and facilities we provide our guests.

We get lots of positive comments on our complimentary large variety of food and drinks in our Lounges, which is not common in the hotel industry around the globe.

Unfortunately, I do believe pressure during the late December full house had its consciousnesses. My apologies.

I hope that we will be able to look forward to welcoming you back to the Hilton Tel Aviv.

my wife and i last stayed at the hilton 5 years ago and had good memories. our room this time had a beautiful long view across rhe sea to jaffa with a lot of surfers, windsurfers and parasail
ers in between. it was spacious with a large comfotable bed,a small balcony and plenty of hanging and drawer space. the bathroom was well appointed with a shower in the bath that didn't need an engineering degree to operate. plenty of generously sized towels and bathrobes.
we were greeted with a dish of fruit, a half bottle of wine, and 2 boxes of chocs. one niggle; the wifi connection cost $19 per day or $50 for 5 days.large variety of takeaway cosmetic goodies in bathroom. daily paper delivered.
staff universally friendly and helpful. top class israeli buffet breakfast in large bright room overlooking thesea which means you don't really need to eat till next morning. very busy till 11 when it nominally closes. loads of kids, lots of orthodox jews. a kosher dairy breakfast with vast choices of fruit, cheeses, fish, salads, breads and cooked egg and pastry dishes etc. not the place for a quiet breakfast with a hangover. the lounges are light and comfortable (also buy and quite noisy) and you can get light snacks and full meals. on shabbat the choice is limited to cold food. we had dinner one night in the small restaurant where the food was excellent and the beef outstandingly good for kosher meat.
the business and executive floors have their own lounges and breakfast rooms which are probably quieter. it is a very lively and child friendly hotel but not conducive to a contemplatve life.
my wife was here on business(the 75th anniversary of the israel philharmonic) and i was on vacation.we were visited at the hotel by family and friends with and without kids.

Room Tip: south faces jaffa but best views are to the right of lifts and you get the best sunsets

It is so good to receive feedback from returning guests, as it really gives us the opportunity to see if we are doing a good job, but more important if we are improving in our standard.

Reading your comment it looks we managed to make you satisfied with our facilities and Food and Beverage options.

I hope you liked the IPO 75th anniversary celebrations during your stay.

Thank you very much for your constructive comment and we hope to have another opportunity to prove our service in the near future at the Hilton Tel Aviv.

Very convenient location on the seashore with fabulous views for ALL rooms. Our room had been recently upgraded on the 9th floor and was extremely well maintained and serviced promptly and efficiently several times a day. The hotel was expensive (as is everything in Israel these days), with additional charges for internet, gym, etc. while the free bottled water, chocolates, etc. were a nice touch. The other true highlight is the sumptuous dairy breakfast which was included in the room charge.

For our first trip to Israel, we made a reservation at the Hilton Tel Aviv given its reputation as one of the best, if not the best hotel, in Tel Aviv. And after our weeklong stay in early December, I came away with an overall feeling that this hotel was solid but nothing spectacular. If this hotel were hypothetically transplanted in the States, it would be considered a slightly above average Hilton. However, since we were under the impression that it was "the place" and given the premium rates that they charged for our time period relative to other hotels in the area, it is difficult to say that the hotel was well worth all the extra penny/dollar/NIS spent.

Don't get me wrong here. There were exceptional aspects. Rooms were large enough and cleaned relatively frequently. And more impressively, ours had a magnificent view of the Mediterranean Sea and moreover a balcony to sit outside to soak it in. Moreover, surrounding the hotel was a beach and a park so there is nothing but praises about the second to none location of this hotel.

However, there was little beyond the room/view/location; it was missing the little touches that transforms a hotel from ordinary to something extra. For example, we booked a room with two twin beds however were given bathroom amenities for only one. While this was rectified after we pointed it out the first night, the mistake was repeated for each subsequent night.

Service was very similar. When asked, request were for the most part fulfilled. However, this was to the extent. In one instance when trying to correct one of the lobby's mistake in number of plates and utensils for our large group, we were flat out told by one of the lobby staff that we were wrong about the number of people in our group and weren't even given an apology when we ended up being right. Again, all little details that separate the average from the top tier, and at these price points, it is these aspects that make all the difference.

All in all, would I return again? Sure, if it was at a price point comparable to the other hotels in the area, just like I would for any solid but not spectacular Hilton. But to put it in the class of top hotels and to be willing to pay a substantial premium to other hotels in the area will be difficult for this author without those little "attention-to-details" as I call it that together add up to something special

Room Tip: Anything with a view of the sea is excellent.

Stayed at the Hilton Tel Aviv couple of times between 2009 and 2010 professional and private.
It is not the best Hilton I've been at, but I'd give it a chance IF you get to stay in a renovated room, away from the works! (Maybe in the meanwhile all the rooms are done?!).
Front desk staff is very good, concierge not really there, or often busy.
Very good food, bigger choice than the traditional Hilton breakfast (not only Halal and non-but as well traditional food and local specialities). The asian restaurant downstairs is not convincing, but at least it's open during shabat.
Maybe they could improve cleaning?
For my last (longer) stay I received a gift by the Hotel management!

Room Tip: ask for a renovateeeed!!!

Dear guest,

We really appreciate your positive comments and we are happy to see that you enjoyed Tel Aviv and the hotel together with the facilities.

Still we regret your dissatisfaction with our Yakimono Sushi Bar, which is our preferred outlet. Could you please write me what went wrong there?

We hope to see you again at the Hilton Tel Aviv.
