“Deborah Okay for a Short Stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2010

I stayed at the Deborah Hotel for 1 night with a group of about 40 people in February of 2010. While the hotel was not nearly as awful as I expected after reading the previous reviews, it was still far from perfect.

Location: The hotel's location is quite good, being approximately 1 block away from the beach, and within walking distance to most major sites, restaurants, and shopping in Tel Aviv. It is about a 20 minute walk from Dizengoff Center where there are many shops, movie theatres, etc.

Room: We had a room on the 6th floor without much of a view, however if we stuck our heads out and to the left, we could catch a tiny glimpse of the Mediterranean Sea. The room had 1 comfortable double (or queen?) bed and an uncomfortable cot for 3 people. It appeared clean for the most part, however I would not recommend walking around bare-foot as the carpets were quite old and full of mystery stains. We had a small television, however there were not as many English channels as in our previous hotels around Israel. There was a mini-bar in the room (with a price-list). The washroom looked like it came out of the 70's with dark brown tile, however it was fine for our needs, and the water pressure in the shower was great.

Food: Our group ate 1 dinner, and 1 breakfast at this hotel. The dining area of the restaurant is quite small and the buffet got crowded at times, however it was tolerable. After travelling through a few kibbutzes and hotels in Israel however, the food seemed to be lacking in both quality and quantity at the Deborah Hotel. I would recommend eating elsewhere, unless you enjoy gluey pancakes and a lack of variety.

Overall, this hotel was not nearly as bad as I expected based on the reviews here, however I would probably want to try a different hotel next time.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2010

For the price and location it was very good. The beds and room was clean no problem there. Shower worked fine. Amazing location for wherever you want to go but do keep in mind tel aviv is very small so you can walk everywhere and the matter of hours. The staff was ok front desk not too friendly at all. Free breakfest is a plus and it was good. The best part about the hotel is that the moment you walk outside Make a left and there is an amazing restaurant just next door very cheap but the quality and quantity are amazing same as the staff. All in all very good hotel
