“I have stayed in a variety of properties in Tel Aviv and the Intercontinental is the best by far!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2013

I have stayed in a variety of properties in Tel Aviv and the Intercontinental is the best by far. I would not call it a five star hotel, though it a "solid" four star hotel. I will 100% be staying here again. Some specifics:

Condition – The hotel itself is old, but it has been kept up-to-date. I was upgraded to an executive room, which was large and offered fantastic views of the beach / waterfront. There was a nice desk for working, ample seating room and the bathroom was quite large. The beds were very comfortable as well. The room was clean and the air conditioning worked great.

Location – Any Tel Aviv hotel along the beach is a "safe bet" in terms of location. This property is not directly on the beach, but it is only a short walk away. It is also close to many restaurants, bars, etc.

Staff – The staff I interacted with were polite and helpful. No complaints.

Other thoughts – I rented a car, which I valeted without any problem. I also ordered room service on one occasion...the food was delivered quickly, warm and tasted pretty good. Drinks at the bar are overpriced, but the atmosphere is nice (I sat outside).

I have stayed at the Tel Aviv Renaissance and Crowne Plaza before (both down the road and on the beach); however, they fail to live up to the high standards of the Intercontinental. It is worth the price.

This hotel is so close to everything!! The concierge were fantastic!! They all went above and beyond when it came to helping with anything and everything (dinner reservations, recommendations on where to go eat, places for pampering, advice if walking or cab better, and even where to get a suitcase). The room was nice and big, and the bathroom was pretty. Two negatives are got kicked out of the pool area because of a wedding, when I wanted to watch the sunset. Also, the spa was closed but the concierge made an appointment for me.

For those who are used to a certain ambivalence** in service in high ranking Israeli hotels, this was a revelation. Without exception, every member of staff (and there are lots of them!) went out of their way to deal quickly and friendlily with any comment or request - and a smile too - nothing appeared to be too much trouble. Slightly shaky start when our initial room had a wonderful view only over the rear car park, but all happy again when we were soon whisked away to a wonderful sea view room - old Jewish joke "always ask the mananger if you can see the second room first" Room very comfortable and well appointed, with immediate attention / room service to whatever you phoned them for. Great pool area and facilities too. The most remarkable thing is the superb breakfast buffet - top quality and huge choice (as often in Israel) but a triumph of logistics as you see how they are able to manage and make happy some 500 demanding people who seem to descend on the dining room at the same time - the maitre D appeared to be a slightly senior "Avraham" from biblical times but he clearly knew how to organise his many young staff and produced a faultless performance. it should be a training school for any lux hotel whose breakfast service is so often poor and unwelcoming.

Hopefully they will soon abolish (in common with other lux israeli hotels and as others have mentioned) the ludicrous charge for wifi - when Tel Aviv is a free wifi city this is a silly and annoying anomaly.

Certainly will be our hotel of choice for our next visit to Tel Aviv and top recco - you cannot go wrong here.

**p.s. If you dont know what I mean about ambivalence check out this story about a neighbouring lux hotel ; "man rings reception 3 times to ask for a missing bath plug to be brought up. Eventually reception says "Mister, check and tell me if the shower is working" Guest answers "Yes". Reception: "then tell your wife to take a shower!"

Room Tip: Ensure your room has a sea view - most do. Worth choosing an exec room with reception floor lounge...

Great big hotel in Tel Aviv. Extremely well positioned. Club rooms great and access to the club floor enhances the experience. Service excellent.we were there for the Pesach holiday and the hotel caters brilliantly with special foods, huge variety and meticulous adherence to kashrut . Pool area tends to be windy. The gym had closed for refurbishment and only a small inadequate gym room was available which was extremely disappointing. The hair salon was closed as well which i feel was very inconvenient for me . Wonderful family hotel

The rooms on the club floors are spacious, hotel staff are accommodating and despite having heard to the contrary , the location suited our needs. The breakfasts were more than sufficient. I enjoyed being on the club floor having access to the club lounge . I would certainly return.

Very comfortable rooms, helpful staff, Israeli style but....
1 charging for wifi is a rip-off, it's free all over the place including buses and
2 $30 for breakfast, although good, is outrageous!
Would stay again and have a coffee and croissant by the sea for a fiver!

i find that in Israel most hotels rated 4 stars, are really 3 star by north american standards.
But this Hotel is a true 5 star hotel.
The pool area is lovely, clean, nice loungers, good food, and great service.
The rooms are generous in size, as is the washroom - products are great quality.
Breakfasts are totally awesome. nothing to find fault with - nothing.
Spa was under renovation, so could not be used. Check that out in advance if its important to you.
