“Just a typical market eatery.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

The Shakshuka is the very simple tomatoes, red pappers, onions, eggs and spices dish.
The service is less than expected mainly during summertime when the humidty makes everything sticky.
Do not expect more than a typical dish in a Mediterranean market

“Tastyyyyy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

Dont' miss to eat Shakshuka in Dr. Shakshuka's restaurant!
The food is very tasty!
The place is close to the flee market and the clock tower.
A lot of old pans and pots are hanging down from the sealing of the restaurant!
It's epic ;-)

“They prey on tourists and oversell food.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2013 via mobile

Stay away from this place, they literally force you to sit and then tell you what kind of food they will bring out. They suggest the mini bites on the menu, which should have been good for us because we felt like something light.

We were a group of 4 with 2 elderly people, one of whom said they wweren't hungry and wouldn't eat the mini bites.

What happened next was really surprising. The next 5 minutes saw the waiter bring plate after plate of dishes until the table was bending. The jug of lemonade was too sweet, they brought soup, cabbage, hummus, shwarma, stuffed meat rolls, fish and more.

It was enough food for 8 hungry people, and none of us were starving.

Then they bring coffee and sweet pastries which were nice, but it was so over the top and not every dish seemed so fresh, and my stomach didn't agree with something I ate.

And here's the real kicker..i went up to quietly pay the bill, they don't take credit cards of course, being dodgy crooks, so they point me to an ATM machine. I was handed a bill for 300, no details, just a grand total. Those crooks charged us for all 4 people, even though one said she didn't want. And then they served a ridiculous amount of food.

Stay away and eat at a modern restaurant or cafe instead.

“Great Shakshuka”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

The cuisine was great and the proportions generous. The restaurant earned its "doctor" title.
The service was okay but they were not super helpful as their english is basic.

“Fantastic Shakshuka”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

I had seen this place on a couple of TV food shows before going over so was really looking forward to checking out and it did not disappoint. The Shakshuka is delicious as is the home-made Lemonade. One word of caution they sent down salad to the table which we assumed was part of the price but this then appeared on the bill. It was lovely so we didn't say anything.
