This cozy studio apartment has a lot to offer: an excellent location; an eclectic and funky, yet modern interior charm; and a very accommodating and friendly Israeli owner Sarina.
I can't really imagine a more central location in Neve Tzedek, which is the hippest neighborhood in TLV (think Soho or Greenwich Village in NYC). It was quiet for being just a block away from Shabazi Street - the main street in Neve Tzedek, full of great wines bars, restaurants, cafes and shops. Being foodie, wine bar and design-focused people we found Neve Tzedek to be a perfect location for us. And, it was quite easy to explore other parts of Tel Aviv from this location by foot or short/cheap cab.
Always looking for something with style and character, we appreciated the clean, funky bohemian charm of this studio apartment. The interior is modern, without being sterile, with lots of natural light. (Although the blinds are perfect for keeping the light out if you want to sleep in.) The apartment was very clean and it was exactly what we expected from the description and photos on the Website, except the bed is not a king (mor like a cross between a Double and a Queen, by American standards). Both the kitchen and bathroom were tastefully remodeled and the kitchen had everything you'd want to make yourself at home, including tea candles we enjoyed quite a lot. It was great to be able to play music from our phones through the stereo system as well. (But you need your own cable.) And, it was super convenient to have a washing machine, although the lack of a dryer made it difficult to dry larger items such as the bed sheets.
The only thing we thought needed a little attention was the garden/ exterior spaces and entry to the apartment, all of which needed some sprucing up - the plants needed maintenance and it would have been nice to see a few potted plants to polish up the patio a bit so one could enjoy a coffee/drink outside and play a game of Backgammon or two. The outdoor furniture was dirty and not very inviting. Also, Tel Aviv has an abundance of stray cats everywhere you look. We made the mistake of leaving a bathroom window open one night before going out, and returned to 7 new roommates in the apartment, making things messy/dirty and even eating through a loaf a bread we had on the kitchen country – you have been forewarned!
The owner, Sarina was very accommodating and always available to answer questions or help us with recommendations for restaurants or anything else we needed. Her son and daughter work at her optical shop down the street, and were very informative in helping us find cool nightlife options and restaurants.
