“Nice authentic Italian place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

Our first time at Cucina Tamar, and probably not the last.
We had coupons for a pre-defined menu, which had a good value-for-money. The restaurant was half-full on Saturday lunchtime, and even though the menu was laconic, the waitress was very hospitable and gave detailed descriptions of the different dishes.
For starters we had the fried house bread with some small dishes (zucchini antipasti, red pepper coulis, fried eggplants, sweet potatoes). The bread was interesting, tasted a little like donuts, and the antipasti was standard, but on the good side of it.
Then for first course we had two dishes each - one was spinach spaghetti with mushrooms. It was quite tasty, "umami" in taste (no added MSG, don't worry), and we both enjoyed it a lot. The second first dish was Pasta roses - cooked in the over, with Schinken and Béchamel and asparagus sauce. This was a real delight, and we both strangled the desire to lick the plate...
The main courses followed - I picked the pork spare ribs in fennel sauce, which was mediocre in compare with the previous dishes... not really the best spare ribs I had. Across the table, the Veal Scaloppine with Spätzle in lemon and white wine sauce was much better - a refined dish with layers of flavor which I liked very much.
Then came the last courses, which I liked a lot whereas my girlfriend didn't. They consisted of a nice digestif, which accompanied a small piece of Almond Tagliatelle cake (quite nice) and sweet Lemon Semifreddo. The espressos were a fine ending to a nice meal.
All through the meal the music in the background was Italian, mostly 50's-70's (Sanremo and such), which I like a lot, but unfortunately a couple of the songs were played twice, and one was played three times... expand your collection, Tamar! :-)
Anyway, it was a fine meal, and for the price of 258nis ($67) it's very much recommended!

“We enjoyed it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

We were a party of 7 (+2 kiddies), celebrating a family birthday.

All of us liked the dishes we ordered, including the desserts.
The atmosphere is relaxing, the service attentive and patient.

The restaurant isnt big, which makes it kind of intimate, and there is an outdoor sitting area.

“excellent Italian restaurant, nice bar”

The chef has a real gift. She is an artist! Atmosphere is fun and relaxed and the wine list is most satisfying. Don't miss the home made ice cream.
