We stayed at Gilgal for a couple of days and were left feeling sorry we didn't book a longer stay. The location is excellent - you can get to the beach in two minutes and walk the beach promenade to the old Jaffa, and on the another direction the Allenby shopping street and the Carmel market are only a short distance away. The room we stayed in was on the 5th floor. The hotel architecture includes an all-window wall which opens to be kind of an French balcony, and we thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful views of both the Mediterranean sea and the city, which it offered. The biggest plus for this hotel however is the staff. They are friendly, helpful and accommodating and make you feel at home right away. I heartily recommend Hotel Gilgal for anyone visiting Tel Aviv and if I do return to the city at some point in time, I know where I'll be staying!

Room Tip: Upper floor rooms have magnificent views of the Mediterranean

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2011

I had two stays within a two week period at Gilgal. This is not a five star hotel, nor does it pretend to be; however, it has a very warm, inviting ambiance for those who appreciate a friendly, personal touch. The owners are loving people of strong faith who have created a family friendly, inviting, wholesome, and enjoyable environment. Each room I occupied was clean, comfortable, and restful. All the amenities you need are here, and wireless Internet worked very well also! The complimentary breakfast was plentiful, and well prepared with lots of choices. The location is great with beach, restaurants, parking close at hand.

Room Tip: Single room with double bed a little roomier. Appreciated lots of closet space and desk in rooms.

I really liked the feel of this place. It is conveniently located just a few blocks from the beach on the south side of Tel Aviv near many restaurants. The rooms were adequate with good Aircon (something to consider during the warm months). I enjoyed the management and they were quite attentive to our needs, The dining hall was also adequate with an average menu. The location was just what we needed and the cost within our range. Very nice conference room on the top floor.

In a country of bad hotels, this is a delightful, rare exception: nice, clean, friendly, working, and affordable. WiFi was free, and WORKED. Breakfast was nice. The lobby atmosphere, with its bar, was enjoyable. Location close to the beach is attractive. This is THE place.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2011

It is not luxurious, but new and clean and great environment/feel to it. I was impressed with the food. The only annoying thing was a mix-up with our reservation and we had to wait half an hour for that to get ironed out. Also, could have really used a mini fridge and sampler shampoo and conditioner!! Usually hotels have them, so I didn't bring any with me. Tried to take a day nap and that didn't go well since it's right on the street and there was a lot of noise outside.
