4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2014

I had the Kalamari salad and for mail course the lamb chops.
The food was fresh and very tasty and the lamb chops were delicious.
The atmosphere was very nice.
Mind you this is an expensive one.

“Had a great time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2014

Raphael consistently appears on the lists of Israel's best restaurants and we haven't been there often enough to dispute this. When we did visit a couple of times in the past, partaking both of the regular and weekend afternoon menus, I can't say that we were "blown away". We were particularly not very happy with their weekend reduced price menus. The feeling that we got was that the efforts made on service and food for weekend diners was of a clearly lower standard. The ambiance also seemed more informal Israeli style raucous than fine dining in a leading restaurant. We therefore approached this latest attempt with trepidation and and a firm intention never to return if things had not changed for the better.
Having said all that, we can say emphatically that this visit was great and most of all thanks to the wonderful food. The atmosphere is still Israeli informal and somewhat loud, but in a good way. It is after all Israel and it was an afternoon sitting. Service was good, friendly and helpful but certainly not a the top of the game.
But back to the fantastic food. The weekend afternoon menus consist of a large number of so-called appetizers. Each one of them was a gem, perfectly prepared and bursting with myriad flavors. Refills are generously offered. They could easily be a meal in themselves (although the menu specifically says that you cannot order just appetizers). So beware, the appetizers together with the scrumptious breads, olive oil and balsamic vinegar, may fill you to the brim. Next one has a choice of main courses - had we not been nearly full I could have ordered one of each. So leave some room for them. We had the grilled sea fish and the grouper kebabs. Wow! Finally we couldn't resist the heavenly chocolate dessert (what an understatement).
With this meal the restaurant, for us, lived up to its reputation. This great menu is terrific value for money and we highly recommend the weekend afternoon option - both to sample outstanding food and evade bankruptcy.
We shall return. You should go too.

“Good Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2014

We had dinner for 5. I had the Moroccan Cigars for starter and the Baby Lamb Chops for main course - Was good. The bread also good and fresh. For desert I took Assortment of hand-made Petit Fours which was only ok. All in all we had good time, stayed for 2 and a half hour. Atmosphere is great and you can see the beach from the windows. Service was nice and pleasant.
