If you're looking for something a little different than what you can normally find in Tel Aviv, this is it. The menu consists mostly of seafood items that rely heavily on the market, which means that what you're served is quite fresh. There are some memorable non-seafood dishes as well, such as the steak tartare, but if you love seafood, you'll find this place to be better suited for you. The shrimp-a-la-plancha and seafood crudos are marvelous. The service is both excellent and not, most of the service aspects are outstanding, yet you'll find the occasional grumpy server. The atmosphere is pleasant and lively, but can seem overwhelming if you're looking for a quiet evening. Tables are placed very close to one another, which reminds me of dining out in New York City. Overall, I found Shila to be a wonderful change from the dismal service and mediocre food that I've had the bad luck of finding in Tel Aviv. One thing worth noting is that Shila has a valet service, which is very helpful, particularly in the part of Tel Aviv that the restaurant is in where parking is extremely difficult to come by.
