4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2009

Nice rooms and friendly service.
The art theme is great fun. Dining room was wonderful and rich Israeli food. Breakfast had plenty of variety. Tourist maps and brochures available in the front desk - very comfterble.
Overall - we had a very pleasant stay and would probably come again.

Nice, stylish hotel in an excellent location. Hard to find at first--it is on a small street across from the Dan Panorama hotel (which you'll need to know 'cause no one knew where it was!). Walking distance to old city and quiet.

Good breakfast buffet and rooms are comfortable. Front desk staff is very indifferent but overall, this hotel is a good value.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2008

The Prima Royale is starting to show its age. Upon checking in, our family was a little bit tentative, given some of the earlier negative reviews and the looks of the place. Those were for not as we had a nice four-day stay. The location is almost as good as it can get in Jerusalem. It is near the Yemin Moshe neighborhood (be careful not to go down Ehud Olmert's street), a 10 minute walk to Hebrew Union College, and a 15 minute walk to the Old City. Ben Yehuda Street is a 20 minute walk up hill from the Prima Royale.
Our room was small, but comfortable and clean. There is no dresser, and the room has a small closet. Like other Israeli hotels, my husband and I were given twin beds put together. It reminded us of Dick Van Dyke and Mary Tyler Moore -- in separate beds. But this is not 1961; it is 2008. The breakfast buffet was rather nice with fresh fruits and vegetables, breads, cheese, and yogurt. The yogurt at this hotel is the delicious Greek style, which is especially creamy and superior to any other obtainable in the United States. To make the breakfast experience even better, there is an outdoor patio area with lots of plants to enjoy the cool Jerusalem mornings.
It should be noted that there is only one internet terminal for the entire hotel. The charge for thirty minutes was fair, but expect to be waiting for someone else to finish using the computer.
Please be aware of the Shabbat elevator! With Jerusalem being such a religious city, one of the two elevators at the hotel is turned to an automatic setting for Shabbat. This means from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday, the Shabbat elevator stops at every floor in the hotel. Most people opted for the stairs instead of dealing with the lengthy wait for an elevator.

My stay was for a single night while attending a friend's wedding at nearby Beth Shmuel (Conservative Union).
Made the reservation through a second party website ont he basis of reccs from trip advisor and suggestion from the Dan Boutique who were full for that night.

Location is quite convenient and particualrly for Yemin Moshe neighbourhood as well as Mamila and Jaffa Gate.
the rooms are small even by European/M. East standards but well appointed and quiet. Pleasant front desk staff though only a single internet connected computer - that was down for the period that I was resident.

B'fast was convenient but not particualrly memorable.
Overall a pretty good experience at very reasonable internet rate of <$150 for the night.
