We spent two nights here the last week of June. Our overall experience was okay. The rooms are small (what we anticipated); however, one can hear everything that is going on in the hallway. The bathroom is dated and had a bit of mold. Tried breakfast, it was not that great. I would recommend walking up to the coffee and bagel store just around the corner. Plenty of restaurants within a short walk of the hotel (the number one selling point). The walk to the Old City is a solid 20 min. Given the price of hotels in Jerusalem, this hotel was reasonably priced; however, would consider spending more next time for a more comfortable stay.

Great location. Is basically on Emek Refaim with its shops and restaurants. Only 15 minutes walk to the Western Wall. Rooms are small but satisfactory. Breakfast is fine. Parking can be a little bit difficult, but you can park just down the street around the corner on Beth-Lechem for free all the time. Can park in front of the hotel from 1:00 p.m. Friday through Saturday for free. Otherwise, you have to buy a parking ticket. Friendly staff. Feels like staying at someone's home as opposed to the huge hotels.

“FANTASTIC HOTEL”

A Little House in the Colony

May 25, 2008

WOW!!! we loved this hotel. We stayed for Four days towards the end of our holiday. The area is amazing great places to eat and drink coffee. We got in Engaged at a local kosher sushi restaurant. The staff amazing very friendly and allowed me to test out my minimal Hebrew.
The room was lovely even though we heard the loud base from the cinema below it didn't stop us sleeping. The rooms were cleaned everyday Breakfast yummy and plentiful. Tea and Coffee available day and night. There is a great cinema next door and cafe/restaurant.
The walk to the Jaffa Road was quite hilly but helped with our fitness and we enjoy walking so no probs. The best falafal can be found just before the burger king off the jaffa road.
Yad Vashim was amazing and inspirational!!
The only issue at the hotel i suppose were the stairs, but this would only be an issue to someone older 70+.
Overall we loved it and have recommended to our friends in Tel Aviv as an excellent value for money hotel.

I booked a room here at the last possible minute online, and it was a very lucky choice. My room was spacious and comfortable. The location was excellent, with a well-stocked corner grocery a few steps away and a main street with shops and restuarants just beyond that. The breakfast was varied and generous. Best of all, the young women at the front desk were unfailingly friendly, cheerful and helpful.

Here are some potential down sides, which didn't happen to bother me but might be an issue in some cases. There is no elevator, and it's a steep climb up to the rooms. My room was fairly noisy, being both on the street and close to the reception desk. The location is great, but it's true that in order to reach both the Old City and West Jerusalem destinations you have to walk uphill (or down and then up again).

Having said that...I loved this place and recommend it without reservation.

“A Great Place to Stay”

A Little House in the Colony

I have nothing but good things to say about my 9 day stay at the Little House in the Colony. The location was ideal. My room was very comfortable, the bed and shower great. The sun bathed breakfast room was warm and inviting. One could sit quietly to oneself or start a conversation with a fellow traveler at a nearby table. The food was delicious. The staff was always kind, patient and helpful. Liat, Moti and Adi always took time to answer my questions, assist with a phone call or travel arrangements. Liat and her father, the proprietor, went out of their way to assist me to clear the memory card on my camera and transfer the pictures to a disc which allowed me to continue to document my trip.

I lived in Israel over thirty years ago and had not been back till this spring. Staying at the Little House made me feel at home and contributed to a wonderful trip. I highly recommend this hotel.
