this hotel with very friendly staff very close to Damascus gate only one moan is car parking such a pity there is not safe parking nearer but staff more than made up for this fact they were so helpful on our last day it was unbelievable how they helped us, from one of the cleaners to the lady on reception we are truly grateful to them for their help. A very very large bed comfortable changed daily could do with a little bit of paint here and there but the friendliness, helpfulness, and lovely ways of the staff far out weighed this would just like to move it a few streets away..

Room Tip: think you could ask for a back room of the main street but i loved watching the daily hustle and bus...

Excellent location one minute's walk from Herod's Gate.
Very friendly & helpful service.
The down side, however, was the fact that we weren't convinced of the cleanliness of the bedding. Both of us woke up covered in bites...not mosquitoes as it was on areas of our body covered by sheets. Bed bugs I'm afraid.

I am a regular visitor to Jerusalem. For the past few years I have stayed only there - on my own or with groups. Although it is not 5 star, you have everything for a comfortable stay and more. The staff are friendly, food is tasty, rooms are cosy and the location is excellent - within a short walking distance from the Old City. My next visit to Metropole Hotel is planned for July.

Excellent location just outside the Old City, convenient for local shops & transport links. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially Kassim & Ahmed. Breakfast fantastic selection, most rooms being refurbished to a good standard although still some rooms to be done. Friendly atmosphere in reception & lobby area always, staff able to converse in many languages with little problems. Overall a very good value for money break but check if room refurbished or not!

Room Tip: Most rooms already refurbished to a good standard - although some still to be done!

To correct something that I wrote in my review of the the Old City of Jerusalem: I stayed at the excellent ( fairly priced,) Jerusalem Metropole Hotel ( not Metroplis please: sorry Mahmoud - he is the congenial manager of the Jerusalem Metropole Hotel) which is located at a mere 150 meter off the Damascus Gate, the rigueur entrance to the Old City. Considering the price gauging of those hotels inside of the Old City, I was really lukcy to have stayed at Mahmoud´´s Jerusalem Metropolis Hotel) Great place Great location and staff Much thanhs Mahmoud!

Room Tip: interior ones

Perfect location, few steps to Herodes gate. Very good hospitality.
Clean and cheap. If you want to visit the old town in couple of days,as I did, is pefect. I came from Jordan by shuttle-taxi and the hotel is about 50 meters from the terminus. And it is also 100 meters to the main bus station, from where you can go everywhere

This place is simply massively overpriced; i stayed one night, in which i managed to sleep just 2 hours with the corridor outside my room full of shouting, hawking, door-banging racket from 3am onward. Utterly inconsiderate for sure, but these guests were really just treating the place as it looks and is managed - a low-rate doss house.

Plenty of much cheaper hostels in this part of town are both better run and cleaner. All are quieter.

Have never felt a need to comment on a hotel before, and have stayed in plenty, including some disappointing ones, but this place is just such a total dive and astonishing rip-off I can't not warn others.

Stay well clear.
