Owner description: This impressive stone windmill is the highlight of one of the nicest walks one can take in the modern city of Jerusalem -- starting from the upscale Yemin Moshe residential quarter (of which the windmill is the centerpiece), continuing along the beautifully manicured Bloomfield Garden and the Lion Fountain, and culminating in the historic German Colony neighborhood. Opposite the Bloomfield Garden is the Liberty Bell Park, with its replica of the famous Philadelphia landmark.

“Incredible Photo Opportunities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

Some famous landmarks you view from a distance and rarely find the time to visit. The windmill in Jerusalem usually fits into that category. As the sun was setting, we parked our car nearby and started to walk. We had incredible views of Jerusalem and captured unique pictures of the windmill. The museum unfortunately was already closed. It would have been interesting to learn more about a notable figure in Jewish history and the history surrounding the windmill.

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 27, 2013

We went out for a stroll and hoped we would end up here. We did! The windmill is simply incredible. From the view points looking across towards Mount Zion are breath taking. The windmill itself has a fascinating history and is now working again after a long number of years. I believe it only worked for the first 18 years iof its life and then lay dormant until last year when, after some major investment it started to mill flour again. It is beautiful and the story of this mill is just so interesting.

“Wonderful!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

The Montefiore windmill is a wonderful flour mill built in the late 1850's.
While it operated regularly only in its 40 years of existence, the mill now has a small museum dedicated to Moses Montefiore, who founded the mill.
The mill is a great photo-op in this beautiful neighborhood.
