“Wonderfully Cozy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

Step into the beautifully decorated stone rooms & step centuries back in history. The feeling is wonderful, as are the people who work there. I will choose this beautiful, quaint, family-owned hotel on every trip to Jerusalem. I did not miss room service or any other amenity 5-star hotels offer because the staff made me feel so welcome and comfortable, and the ambiance was just lovely. The Damascus Gate (to an expansive Old City Market you'll want to take hours to explore) is only a short walk away but having a restaurant built right onto the hotel was an added plus after a looooong, exhausting journey. And their green ice tea (literally neon green w/ foam on top!) is a must have!

Room Tip: My room was on the ground floor just across from the hotel entry desk, but the ancient stone structu...

Whenever I visit Jersualem - I always make sure to stay at this family run establishment. This year was with my son and daughter we stayed for 4 nights.

The building itself has its own story to tell and transports you back in time.

Situated in East Jerusalem and close to Damascus Gate - its location is excellent.

For those who would like 5 star amenities of a 5 star hotel - then this may not be right for you. Whilst the hotel as well does not project itself as such.

However for those who would like to immerse themselves into the local way of life, enjoy local hopsitality and understand the history of its inhabitants, then from a personal perpsective it is 5 star plus.

I would like to thank Raed Saadeh (the owner) and his family , Rober, Shireen, Nasser, Saadeh, all the staff, the musicians - who make this place such a pleasure to visit.

Look forward to returning soon.

The hotel has some nice points: Great location, close to Damascus Gate, kind and helpful staff and , yes, also the restaurant is, (at least for me), ok. I don t really need luxus around me. But the hotel is clearly overprized for what it offers: nearly nothing . I don´t want to recapitulate what they should do, that list would be too long, but they need to invest also a bit when the room rates are around 140 USD. In short, I think the whole place needs a complete overhaul and cleanup, until then this place is purely and simply overpriced.

Jerusalem Hoel is a little cosy hotel just outside Damascus gate. The rooms have great traditonal furniture, the service is splendid and the restaurant in the garden so relaxing that you would like to stay for hours!! Try a glass of white wine and some hummus with bread and just enjoy Your stay.

I recently visitied the Jerusalem Hotel, Bistro/ Bar , I go there whenever I am in Jerusalem , which is once a year. Typical pf many things ine at jerusalem they start of well then deteriorate. Dead flies and bees neat the glass windows, waiters gossping and cursing at one another ... Just unprofessional and predictable .

We spent a week at this charming Palestinian hotel a stone's throw from the Damascus gate. This old Palestinian home turned into a hotel has charm, tradition, and comfort at a great price. The style of building in stone makes the rooms comfortable in the summer but the rooms have air conditioning and and ceiling fans as well. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. They know all about the myriad festivals and events going on in Jerusalem and Ramallah during the summer and Ra'ed, the owner, is involved in creating a lively Palestinian cultural life in the city. The hotel has a wonderful garden restaurant with a great selection on the menu and a delicious daily breakfast. The hotel staff can help arrange for a car rental as well. We won't stay anywhere else when we go back!

Room Tip: This hotel is in middle of a bustling city so if you want quiet, look elsewhere.

This hotel is an absolute gem. The garden restaurant is a lovely place to sit and relax after a hectic day or trip in from elsewhere. The gentleman who runs the hotel is accomodating, kind, and very attentive. The rooms are magical- gives you a sense of the old, stone, traditional Palestinian homes that would have been there for hundreds of years. We didn't know abotu the Political tours that are posted in the restaurant in time to enjoy one, but it is a good alternative way to see the city and even locations farther afield. My father has been living in the West Bank for a year, and this is his favorite place in the city. Stay here, you'll be happy you did.
