“Awe inspiring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013

For JEws and non-Jews alike this is a must-do. It is hard, but necessary that everyone understand the Holocaust, its impact on Jews and its consequences for Israel and others. Beautifully put-together, even for those who have been to the DC Holocaust Museum, Berlin, Poland and elsewhere

“Do not leave Israel without going to Yad Vashem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

This is what you must see when you come to Israel. It's what makes the State of Israel a necessity -- it puts it all into context. A horrendous history given the careful presentation it deserves to honor the memory of the lost.

“A Monument And A Name”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

" Even unto them will I give in My house and within My walls a monument and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting memorial, that shall not be cut off."
(Isaiah 56.5)

Israel has sworn that the Holocaust will never be forgotten and neither the names of those who perished. Yad Vashem! A Monument and a Name

A museum unlike any other!
Here you relive and experience at first hand the horrors of the the most horrific era in human history. You walk through a long triangular shaped passage as your path zigzags from one side to the other between the exhibits and remains of the holocaust. The visitors themselves,(and you among them), become part of the exhibit as the line becomes reminiscent of the line of people marching to their death in the gas-chambers of Nazi Germany. I will not even try to attempt to describe the experience. This is something that must be felt specifically by each person.
When you think that the feeling cannot get any more intense, You arrive at the childrens memorial. This is a pitch dark hall with thousands of tiny lights, each one representing a child who perished. As you walk through, the names and ages of the children are heard in the background as they are recited in a never-ending loop.

This visit is a "MUST" for any person who considers himself/herself human!

Not recommended for children under 8 yrs old

“Put life back into Perspective!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

Highly recommend - extremely moving. You can not go through everything (read every story, view every video, etc) in a single day. Pick what you are most interested in and go from there. Also take the time to visit the various gardens outside on the grounds.
