“Amazing...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

My husband and I visited here early December 2012.
Inside this church is the exact spot where Jesus was buried.
Need I say more?
Amazing....
Ps...get a map, not always easy to find.

“A special church with historical significance”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

Different denominations of the Christian Church perform religious rituals in this unique house of worship. Beautiful architecture and artifacts. Walk through the Arab Quarter to get to the church.

“Very crowded”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Beautiful but claustrophobic. The crowds of Christian tourists are overwhelming, but it was really neat to see the Catholic and Greek Orthodox monks performing their rituals.

“An important site for Christians”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

The lavishly-decorated interior, the incantations, the candles, the incense and the mysterious (to me at least) rituals all contributed to the other-worldly ambience of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. For most visitors it also had a deeply religious significance, and a lot of them seemed to feel completely overwhelmed by the experience. There is the opportunity to visit a small room that's said to contain the tomb of Jesus, but be warned, there is a big queue, and it's only available to visitors when there isn't a religious service in progress. It was a very interesting place, even for a non-believer, and I'd say it's definitely worth a look.

“A great place of faith and hope”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2013

This was my third visit to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and its significance has not diminished. In fact , for myself, it holds an even greater significance now than in the past.

Much has been written about how the Church was built, its architecture, many Chapels , processions, caretakers over the centuries etc. As a historical building, it is possible to walk around the Church for several interesting hours. If you don't have a guide then make sure you have a guide book -- or else you might just walk past some very significant places without knowing what they mean.

The area around the Church is also interesting -- the souk, cafes , other Churches, museums and historical buildings. And also some nice ( though expensive ) shops.

Suffice to say that for myself as a committed Christian, this Church is more special than any other -- because it was here that Our Lord Jesus Christ was crucified and rose from the dead.

The quantum of faith and hope present here amongst the millions of faithful is almost palpable , and there is nothing quite like it to revive one's spirits and to give thanks to God.
